"This is a throwback to the good old-school fun fantasy horror 80's flicks with a pinch of comedy. Young orphan Lewis is sent to live with his uncle after his parents are killed in a car crash. "At time is funny, at time is boring and lame, The House with a Clock in Its Walls has interesting concepts like the original book, but it also drags whit a mediocre story and characters and a really awful villain and plot twist "
"Eli Roth's first family film is a confused adventure about a young boy who goes to stay with his unusual uncle and his equally strange neighbour and the clock that is hidden in the walls of house. While its based on a book pre-Harry Potter, you can see that this is aiming at the Potter fans, although the story is messy and answers to questions are never clear. Jack Black and Cate Blanchett are fun together but they need a stronger script, while Roth does add some surprisingly nasty touches."
