A minor Williams, 'boom' in Burtons mouth is just the superficial blow of life.Just a justification to have Liz and Burton and Coward in italian landscape. It lacks humour, in spite of a insulting Liz...

Description: A bitchy millionaire woman writer named Sissy Goforth, having survived six husbands, now lives in an Italian island palace with her staff whom she verbally abuses. Sissy dresses extravagantly, flaunts her jewelry, and indulges in medications as her health fails and she tries to finish her autobiography. A man named Chris Flanders swims to the island one day, determined to continue the mystical role he has discovered of escorting rich dying men into the afterlife, a function which has gained him the nickname of Angel of Death. Sissy is horrified and fascinated, inviting him into her home and dressing him like a Japanese warrior. ... (more)

"28.11.2021 Ymmärrän hyvin miksi John Watersin mielestä kyseessä on maailman paras elokuva, mutta tämä katsoja ei kyllä päässyt Boomin parissa moisille nautintoleveleille. Vaikka skenaario, jossa hampaisiin asti jalokivillä koristeltu Elizabeth Taylor ja samuraikimonoon sonnustautunut Richard Burton huutavat toisillensa kännissä kaksi tuntia Italian saaristossa on sinänsä kutkuttava ja sisältää ainakin ajatuksen tasolla potentiaalia hyvinkin viihdyttävälle elokuvakokemukselle,"

This is iconic, sex-symbol Taylor, one of her silk-slip roles—the other being Butterfield 8. Her Maggie is fantastic, but followed by another, more interesting Williams role: Catherine Holly in Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s Suddenly Last Summer. Here, Taylor takes us to greater extremes: there’s the glamorous pa"
