Works of Inimitable Beauty

How lucky we are to have such marvellous wielders of sorcery using colour to grace this earth. My taste hardly runs the gamut in terms of aesthetics, which indeed is an indication of gaps in my knowledge and lack of enthusiasm in some areas. I also identify as an objectivist more than a subjectivist in that a piece of work one way or another is required to conform to my established standards. I'm appreciative of a good challenge but when artists these days can get away with it under the guise of originality and have little to show in terms of craftsmanship, skill and thought, then a line has to be drawn somewhere. What I'm always in search of though is that germ of the ethereal that persistently crops up in my dreams. As amazing as these masters I can't help but feel they are still bounded by their classical training and stifling environment. Nonetheless I think their works do honour to humanity and has helped me develop not just as an artist but as a person.
