The Dark Knight (2008)
"The Dark Knight", quite possible the best movie I have ever seen. I went to the cinema expecting an amazing film... it exceeded my already high expectations, something I don't think it happens very often. It is also the only movie that I watched twice on the big screen, ever! It was that good.
This movie works as a stand-alone story but it obviously continues the events of "Batman Begins" which happens to be one great movie as well. However, after watching "The Dark Knight" I look at "Batman Begins" and what I see is the prequel of a masterpiece.

So what is this film? It's basically a breath-taking action flick, a suspenseful crime story, a psycological thriller, a character development ride with unexpected drama and an amazingly well-told story with great direction, groundbreaking performances, incredible visuals and a memorable soundtrack. Oh I forgot to mention a little detail, it is also a superhero movie, and he has a bike.
So you could say that this movie here on this list, represents all that is good in the 7th art.
Ok now on a more serious note, this movie is a thrilling superhero action movie with a great police/mob story and one of those villains you will never forget.
Do I need to mention the Joker? I don't think I need to mention the Joker... But I will say that he is definitely ONE of the highlights of this movie (and probably the best one with that otherworldly performance) and he makes the film more interesting. However this movie is a complete success, it's a great achievement on the whole, not just a good movie with some successful elements in it... It's an amazing collective, the film, with outstanting individualities, the joker; the bike; etc.
So please enjoy this amazing movie on the whole. It's natural to be stupefied when watching those scenes with pencils or hospitals, but don't let them steal you total attention from the masterpiece of deep visual entertainment that is this movie.

Watchmen (2009)
A movie with an outstanding style and great concept where we have masked vigilants who could be considered heroes by some and villains by many. The movie is long, but has an amazing developed story with one of those endings that will leave you thinking for a while after finishing it. The action is brutal, amazingly choreographed and fast-paced while the characters are very interesting with with their very unique personalities and interests as well as extremely likeable (except a certain someone...). Not to miss, especially for the fans of the genre.

Batman Begins (2005)
Now this is THE origin. I don't think I've ever seen such a detailed info and background of how a hero came to be. It is also the best ramake/reset/whatever you wanna call it that I've seen. And what an amazing Batman and Bruce Wayne that Christian Bale pulls off... just like his every other performances.
This movie seriously represents all that is good in the superhero genre even if it is in a more slow paced story with a more serious tone.

Take in mind that this is just a set up, a build up for the story of Bruce Wayne and future Batman movies to come. Nolan sure created one of the most interesting and realistic superhero universes in the big screen.

Kick-Ass (2010)
This movie is... SO FREAKING COOL! Loved the initial parody about superhero stories and the fantastic story this turned out to be!

Iron Man (2008)
This is the funniest superhero movie out there for sure! Among those with a serious tone of course, but it is also a stunning visual cinematic experience... the thrilling scenes with the Iron Man flying, dodging, shooting, etc are simply out of this world and some of the best CGI from 2008 in my honest opinion.
We can consider this an origin movie where we are shown how Iron Man came to be, and it is amazing watching the development step by step of the armour that will be Tony Stark's greatest invention. From the very first basic armour he uses to escape from the bad guys's dungeon, to the more detailed prototype and finally the final product.

I've also read comcis with the Iron Man in the past and I've always thought it was a very cool and interesting character/hero, and seeing it "animated" in such a great movie is very pleasing. Oh and by the way, Robert Downey Jr. is THE Tony Stark!
