Durarara!! (2010)
Durarara is as crazy as it is entertaining, The story isn't really straight forward but mostly character driven.
Whilst the show is initially good, it doesn't really pick up until around a third of the way in, when it begins to move into the fast-paced action wonderfully. For most of the middle third of the series, the show is absolutely on its peak. But unfortunately, it's not as good in the third act.

Blue Literature Series (2009)
Japanese novel adaptions are rare. Madhouse took the risk and adapted 6 Japanese classics into a 12 episode anime, and it payed off.
All of the adapted novels (No Longer Human, In the Forest Under Cherries in Full Bloom, Kokoro, Run Melos!, The Spider's Thread, Hell Screen.) seem to have one thing in common, they all explore the mindset of the protagonist and present and go through human psychology.

Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) vs. Brotherhood is a debate we see everywhere. FMA's ending was much better, but Brotherhood beats the 2003 adaption in nearly everything else.
