The Marvel Cinematic Universe Franchise
Starting in 2008, Marvel Studios took a major risk by making movies with their comic-book properties. While X-Men and the Fantastic Four were at Fox and Spider-Man was at Sony, Marvel Studios had to rely on the rest of their famous superheroes to compromise something that happened really been done before. A cinematic universe.
After the success of Iron Man, Marvel set up what would be known as Phase One which consisted of origin films establishing Thor, Hulk, and Captain America to the limelight. Culminating in the four superheroes (along with Black Widow and Hawkeye) forming the powerful dream team known as The Avengers.
After the EVEN BIGGER success of The Avengers, that was when the Marvel Cinematic Universe truly came into swing. Releasing TV shows, short films, comic books, digital series, and eventually establishing 2 more phases. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is still going strong. Even turning minor superheroes like Ant-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy into successes. Along with getting everyone's favorite web-crawler back with the original company.
Ten years after Iron Man took the world by storm, what the MCU has been setting up will ultimately culminate in the release of ''The Avengers: Infinity War'' where every major Marvel superhero (except the X-Men and Fantastic Four) working together to fight the evil world-conquering Thanos.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe serves as a fantastic portrayal of their comic-book counterparts that similarly employ continuity and spectacular action set-pieces that has provided entertainment for comic-book fans and mainstream viewers alike. Whether you're watching it on the silver screen or on Netflix, ABC, Hulu, Freeform, etc., Marvel is continuing to be the powerhouse of the cinema industry that all other company have been trying to replicate ever since.
