If I am the Phantom, it is because man's hatred has made me so... If I shall be saved, it will be because your love redeems me.

Who are you? Criminals? Are you proud of yourselves? Proud of breaking safes or cheating at cards? Things you could just as well keep your fingers off. You wouldn't need to do all that if you'd learn a proper trade or if you'd work. If you weren't a bunch of lazy bastards. But I... I can't help myself! I have no control over this, this evil thing inside of me, the fire, the voices, the torment!

Character: The Queen

Now, a formula to transform my beauty into ugliness. Change my queenly rainment to a peddler's cloak. Mummy dust, to make me old. To shroud my clothes, the black of night. To age my voice, and old hag's cackle. To whiten my hair, a scream of fright. A blast of wind to fan my hate. A thunderbolt to mix it well. Now, begin thy magic spell.

Lord, you sure knew what you were doing when you brung me to this very cell at this very time. A man with ten thousand dollars hid somewhere, and a widder in the makin'.

It doesn't make sense. I mean what happened. It had nothing to do with the Clutters. They never hurt me. They just happened to be there. I thought Mr. Clutter was a very nice gentleman... I thought so right up to the time I cut his throat.

Wendy? Darling? Light, of my life. I'm not gonna hurt ya. You didn't let me finish my sentence. I said, I'm not gonna hurt ya. I'm just going to bash your brains in.

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

They cast a spell on you, you know, the Jews. When you work closely with them, like I do, you see this. They have this power. It's like a virus. Some of my men are infected with this virus. They should be pitied, not punished. They should receive treatment because this is as real as typhus. I see it all the time. It's a matter of money? Hmm?

Character: Stansfield

You're a Mozart fan. I love him too. I looooove Mozart! He was Austrian you know? But for this kind of work, [imitates playing the piano] he's a little bit light. So I tend to go for the heavier guys. Check out Brahms. He's good too.

Character: Francis Dolarhyde
Actor: Ralph Fiennes
I am the Dragon. And you call me insane. You are privy to a great becoming, but you recognize nothing. To me, you are a slug in the sun. You are an ant in the afterbirth. It is your nature to do one thing correctly. Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe.

The Dark Knight (2008)
Character: The Joker
Actor: Heath Ledger
See, their morals, their code... it's a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. See, I'm not a monster, I'm just ahead of the curve.
Log Lady's rating:
Some (more or less ambiguous) villains steal the show. You begin to wait until they return to the screen once more. You might even start rooting for them and curse the injustice of their failure. No matter if you're mesmerized or just plain horrified and disgusted, a good villain is always a pleasure and might even save a whole movie.
