The West Wing (1999)
Yes - it may take a dip in quality around season five, but the six seasons that surround that one contain some of the best television moments in recent years. One stand out (among many) being the final episode of the second season 'Two Cathedrals'.
If watching that, particularly the last ten minutes, doesn't make the hair on your neck stand up then you're either immune to well written and acted drama or you have a bald neck.
