The Goonies (1985)
My favourite adventure film as a kid, and still one of my favourites. I always wished I was a Goonie. I am sure I was not the only kids that felt that way watching this.

Back to the Future (1985)
I thought this movie was the bees knees when I first saw it, and I still do. I remember thinking the Delorean looked cool (and still do), and then later being disappointed when I found out it was, in reality, a little lacking under the hood, and didn't perform all that great, since the movie paints it as a sports car (it was also marketed that was as well).

What kid couldn't love this movie? It has laughs, it has thrills, it has chills, and it is just an all around great adventure. I always loved the gadgets on his bike. You may be noticing a pattern by now. Lot's of adventure themed movies. I guess my real life wasn't adventurous enough for me, as a kid.

With my love of horror just starting to blossom, and my love of a good adventure movie already solidified, this movie was gold to me. It's kind of like the Goonies meets Universal's classic monsters (Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, The Mummy, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the Wolf Man). And it has nards, for a "kid's movie".

Explorers (1985)
Another youth based adventure film. I couldn't and still can't get enough of these types of movies. I always loved the idea of these kids building a spaceship, and flying around in it. I wished that was me. I have to admit though that I have never been satisfied with how this movie ends. I now know it ends the way it does because it's really an incomplete movie. I wish that the studio had let Dante finish this film the way he wanted.

Flight of the Navigator (1986)
What is this? Another youthful adventure? Get used to it. As a kid I actually found this movie's story kind of frightening, and unsettling at times. I'm not sure why. I think it was the idea of being lost, disoriented, and in a strange situation, like the boy in the movie is. That can be a scary thing when you're a kid. Hell, it can be scary when you're an adult.
Grisly Atoms's rating:
Yet another youthful adventure, this time involving espionage. Always found this movie pretty gripping as a kid. I never did have an imaginary friend.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
The movie that I credit as really kick starting my love for the horror genre. I was fortunate enough to see this when I was still pretty young (I couldn't have been more than 10, I don't think), and it scared the crap right out of me. Probably the first, and sadly one of the last horror films I've seen to do so. Obviously as I got older they were much less scary.
Grisly Atoms's rating:
After seeing this, I was convinced that Jean Claude Van Damme was the coolest action star ever. I still think he is pretty cool.

There was a brief period in my childhood, where all I really wished for in life, was to be a ninja. This movie is probably the cause of that. This and Bloodsport (also on this list).

A work in progress.
A list of movies I watched and distinctly remember really enjoying as a kid (I was born in 1985, so basically during the early to mid 90s). In other words, for the purposes of this list, from the age of 5 to 12.
I couldn't tell you exactly when or where I watched all of these (I'm pretty sure all were rented and viewed on VHS though), but I do remember enjoying them.
If I have any distinct memories or feelings about them, I will add those. My memory isn't the greatest though, so don't expect too much.
