Legendary gentle giant, never cautioned in his career, formidable as both central defender and centre forward, top scorer in Italy, won 3 titles and cup final man of the match for Juventus in a few years there. An automatic choice by experts in all-time UK XI, in central defence if not in attack. Had he not missed the world cup 1/4 final v Brazil in 1958, through injury, history might have been very different.
