Sega Master System is still being made in Brazil, but the last cartridge based models were made in 2003. The later consoles are plug-and-plays. Master System is the third version of SG-1000 that was released in 1983 the same day as Famicom, the Japanese version of NES. The first two versions did not get a global release.
