Arguably this and it's sequel (The Four Musketeers which was filmed at the same time and released a year later) are the best of all the cinematic versions of Alexandre Dumas famous novel.
Certainly it's one of the most accurate in terms of period detail, and possibly the one with best all-round cast, but most of all perhaps, it's the most pure fun, with great cameraderie between the musketeers, wonderful costumes and tons of very realistic sword-fighting !.
