“Recently, I replied to a thread on the Rocko's Modern Life boards, and I was absolutely shocked to learn that there were those who considered this as Nick's worst. Sorry, I disagree completely. Avatar:The Last Airbender in my opinion doesn't deserve to be included down there with ChalkZone and Rocket Power, if anything this is one of Nick's best shows along with Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy and Angry Beavers.
The concept may appear simple and basic on paper, but as the show progresses the storytelling is grander, more epic and perhaps even more powerful. The animation is excellent, the music is great, the writing is consistently strong and the stories are outstanding in my opinion. Avatar, la leyenda de Aang, es una de las series de animación más aclamadas que hay, y es de notar que para occidente, es una serie animada muy poco convencional. Esto, debido a que tiene una trama lineal y continuidad, cosa que, aunque ahora es más común que antes, cuándo salió Avatar no era algo convencional y pocas animaciones Estadounidenses hacían esto. Igualmente, Avatar es poco convencional por tener un estilo de dibujo menos caricaturesco, cosa bastante sorprendente, viniendo de una producción hecha por Nickelodeon, empresa conocida por animaciones muy caricaturesco, y que a parte, eran casi que totalmente cómicas, en contraposición con Aang, serie que, aunque tien” read more

Parte porque el estigma de animación para niños y parte porque maniobrar todo el trabajo de crear una animación con un punto a y un punto z desde el vamos es laborioso cuando el medio se caracteriza por rotar los escritores por capitulo. Por ello no es de esperarse que Avatar The Last Airbender haya destacado tanto al punto de ser considerada no una de las mejores animaciones occidentales de la historia sino de las mejores series de todos los tiempos.

“A pesar de haber mejores obras en animación, considero que Avatar es lo mejor que ha producido occidente en series animadas, siendo que la mayoría de obras maestras se encuentran en Japón. Curioso que esta tenga, de hecho, una ambientación asiática a pesar de ser americana.
Pero dejando estas cuestiones de lado, esta es una serie con unos excelentes personajes, quienes tienen cada uno de ellos su propio desarrollo, propio conflicto y propia conclusión, siendo así una serie que se enfoca más en caracterizar a sus personajes.
