Mother! update feed
"First viewing - Sept. 23rd Best new-to-me film for September Having to wait a week to see mother! was kind of painful, but thankfully worth the wait. I'm not surprised that many people were turned off by this movie, as it's definitely not for everyone. It requires attention and patience, which general audiences tend to lack, especially the ones who have no issues with engaging in distractions from what's on the screen despite having paid money to be there. As a result of a failed opening weeken"
" Notes: I have to admit it, it was a difficult movie to read as the whole thing was just so bizarre and chaotic and I can imagine that not everyone might be able to connect with this picture. But that was also the real beauty of it, the fact that you could give it pretty much any meaning you want. Indeed, someone might think that it is a story about motherhood, some others might say it is about how chaotic our society and way of life has become. As far as I was concerned, it felt like a fascina"
“Following the polarizing responses towards this movie, I wasn't really sure what to expect but since I have always been a fan of Darren Aronosfky's work, I was still really eager to check it out. Indeed, someone might think that it is a story about motherhood, some others might say it is about how chaotic our society and way of life have become. As far as I was concerned, it felt like a fascinating and endless nightmare, the way everything seemed familiar and yet odd at the same time and the way th” read more

“ Darren Aronofsky drops an atomic bomb on the cinematic landscape, bringing passion and artistic vision to the box office where those qualities are in short supply. Mother! might be the most well crafted, intense and creative dissection of religious mythology ever made. It starts out as a slow burn mystery, feeling almost like a dream, but soon plunges forth into nightmare territory. It takes all the assumptions and contradictions of Christian dogma, contrasts them with the reality of our relationship to the Earth, and splatters them across the canvas in all their hideous cruelty.
This is not a film for people who like to have their hands held by simplistic plots, lots of exposition and a paint-by-numbers procession of events. That doesn't mean you need to be a genius to understa” read more
"09/25/17 Directed by: Darren Aronofsky I really don't know who this film is for. The entire film is allegory but its just so on the nose that there's nothing interesting for anyone following it and the narrative doesn't stand on its own so there's nothing there for anyone not picking up on the allegory. The best thing I can say about it is that it passed the time well enough. "
