Starts out a little slow, and if you don't listen closely you don't catch all the jokes, but the story really blossoms and the fairly unsympathetic protagonist stumbles her way down a road to redemption. Credit to Schumer and Bill Hader. I watched the unrated version so I don't know what they cut out.

To be honest, even though I have heard about Amy Schumer, I have to admit that I'm not really familiar with her work but since this movie was available on HBO, I thought I might as well check it out. Initial Thought: I was pretty skeptical about this at first. I don't really follow Amy Schumer as she really doesn't seem all that funny and I don't quite find her attractive either. Upon asking a few people who watched a screening of it saying that it was pretty good I thought I would give it a shot. Since she was a little girl, it's been drilled into Amy's head by her rascal of a dad that monogamy isn't realistic. Now a magazine writer, Amy lives by that credo - enjoying what she feels is an uninhibited life free from stifling, boring romantic commitment - but in actuality, she's kind of in a rut. When she finds herself starting to fall for the subject of the new article she's writing, a charming and successful sports doctor named Aaron Conners, Amy starts to wonder if other grown-ups, including this guy who really seems to like her, might be on to something.
