“I wasn't really sure what to expect from this flick but since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, even though it was nothing really original, it was still a decent shark flick mixed with a typical survival tale. What made this movie worked was, above all, the realistic minimalist approach that they chose. Indeed, I always had a weak spot for such movies dealing with one character trying to survive on their own and most of the scenes were actually quite believable. The big exception was of course the ending which was quite over-the-top but it is understandable that the makers wanted to end with something climatic. I also enjoyed a lot the surfing scenes at the beginning which were really gorgeous and, while watching the damned thing, I wondering if B” read more
"A mere 200 yards from shore, surfer Nancy is attacked by a great white shark, with her short journey to safety becoming the ultimate contest of wills."
"If Jaws feels a bit too classy and you need the movie to hold your hand the entire time, I recommend Deep Blue Sea instead."
"August 1 "I've got you." As far as shark movies go, this is one of the better ones. Blake Lively carries the film really well and I like how the shark aspect was used just enough. They could've easily gave the shark too much exposure, so I like how they didn't go that direction. There was also some good amount of character depth and the scenes with Blake Lively interacting with a seagull manage to be charming. For a movie that's only 86 minutes it never feels too short or overstays its welco"
" DVD- 1hr. 26min. First Viewing It's a bit slight, and quite derivative, but The Shallows works as a nice little thriller that's kept afloat thanks to director Jaume Collet-Serra's ability to ratchet up tension, and Blake Lively's exceptional leading turn. The need to bookend personal growth for the lead feels too tacked on, unnecessary of this story. Aside from that, the film works due to skill instead of story. "
""A mere 200 yards from shore, surfer Nancy is attacked by a great white shark, with her short journey to safety becoming the ultimate contest of wills." Main Character(s) Nancy Portrayed By Blake Lively My Rating 8/10"
"Few nice looking and colorful underwater shots. I was looking more excitement from this movie, but it didn't delivered it much. CGI shark was ugly when it came on surfes. I was shocked that the friendly seagull, who kept company on the rock for Blake's character, wasn't made on CGI but the production team actually hired few animal trainers for it. You don't see that very often in movies these days. Shared With Milady"
