"This is a remake of Dario Argento's 1977 horror classic. I'm afraid I have to say it's not very good and kind of dissapointing. It goes on for way too long, 2 and a half hours and not very much is happening. The original had wonderful colours, a superb soundtrack, great gore and was nice and tight, and didn't go on forever. This new interpretation lacks everything that made the original a classic. Gone are the vibrant colour and memorable soundtrack. Instead we get a movie that gets tedious over"
“The eternal hope is that when someone decides to remake a movie, they choose material that didn’t work before, giving the production room for improvement as it searches for reinterpretation. 1977’s “Suspiria” is a horror masterpiece, emerging from the demented depths of co-writer/director Dario Argento, who took the premise of an innocent coming into contact with pure evil and twisted it into a Technicolor freak-out, creating a thunderous achievement in sight and sound, also developing his interest in abstract areas of the occult. Screenwriter David Kajganich and director Luca Guadagnino have decided to return to Argento’s original picture for an update, and while they deserve some credit for trying to keep their feature as far away from the original as possible, this obsession t” read more
" Note: I normally don't plan to watch remakes of movies that I love. However I hear nothing, but good things about this remake. The movie has really good world building with the Three Mothers mythology and handles the characters very well. For a movie that is over 2 hours, the movie didn't drag at all. I was worry that the movie would be pretentious to sit through and it wasn't. The last half of the movie is totally worth the 2 hours + wait time. I also like that the movie is set in the 1970s,"

"22.01 I really appreciated how it never tried to be the Dario Argento original. It had its own distinctive look and feel whilst retaining elements of Argento's masterpiece. The cinematography is beautiful. At times it reminded me of Robert Altman and Stanley Kubrick, with its movement and zooms. The muted and 'cold' colours gave the film a very distinctive look and enhanced its atmosphere. Thom Yorke's soundtrack is beautiful and compliments the film's tone nicely. All in all I was pleasan"
"First viewing - Nov. 10th After Bohemian Rhapsody I took a lunch break and returned for Suspiria. Those expecting a faithful adaptation will be sorely upset I suspect, as the film is more interested in taking the idea behind the original film and creating something new with it. Given my lack of appreciation for the original film (which I've come to recognize is probably due more to the circumstances under which I viewed it, and I now intend to give it another chance at some point) I wasn't comp"
