First Viewing It's got similar pacing problems to a glut of 70s-80s films (largely due to the technology at hand), and the story suffers a bit for it, but Private Benjamin is a funny, surprisingly deft dramedy with an exceptional lead performance from Goldie Hawn. There's a lot of humor to be found in the film, but the film, wisely, does not go too hard on the easy laughs, instead relying on character rather than hijinks.
