"It is well directed more than I would ever hope for. The movie is very terrifying and psychological. It exhibits really scary feelings and thoughts. How a person can lose himself and how a person can be obsessed with one version of someone else. It is a story about a girl who leaves pop idol life to be an actress and loses herself on the way and a stalker who is just a lunatic beyond comprehension. It is a great movie but I couldn't rate it more than 3 stars because it was too much for me. "

Everything about this movie is breath-taking from start to finish. I remember when the movie came out on VHS in 1999, but I never saw it at the time. "Perfect Blue is the 1992 Argento he never had the skill to make. It's the downright picture perfect problematic fave, a film simultaneously as sleazy, unkind and nasty as it is empathetic and righteously condemning. If it applied that empathy to all regions, I wouldn't be as grossed out by it post-viewing, but even as it is, I can totally get behind this level of sleazy psycho-sexual and physical violence executed with an over-the-top style. "
