It is really fun to watch an expensive, well shot studio production break that fashion just for gory gross-out moments."

"Overlord" is the definition of a balls-to-the-wall, nonstop, rip-roaring romp of a popcorn movie. If Hollywood churned out stuff like this instead of regurgitating Transformers movies then "leave your brain at the door", unabashedly "fun first" movies would actually be entertaining instead of a chore. This is not to insinuate that the movie is a vacuous bag of eye candy. No, just that the eye candy and mile a minute pacing are prioritized.

Movies the giraffe watched in 2018: November (26 movies items)"First viewing - Nov. 11th I'd hoped to watch all three of these films in a single day, but the timing of each worked against me. I would've preferred to watch Overlord with Suspiria, but there was no way to do that without waiting at least and hour & a half between them which I wasn't going to do. So I wound up catching the two previous films back-to-back despite the fact they don't go together at all, and returned the next afternoon to catch this one in IMAX. Overlord hits the ground running "

Seen in 2018 (388 movies items)"I was expecting just an enjoyable action film and was pleasently surprised by the quality of this film. There were real explosions, nice practical and CG mix on the effects and the action was shot well and sounded great. The "zombies" were actually pretty terrifying with the powers and movement. I also digged the chemistry of group. And Pilou Asbæk was good bad guy for the film."
