Hacksaw Ridge update feed
"Can't express how happy I am to see Mel Gibson back in the spotlights again! Congrats the Oscar nomination on directing. His one of my childhood heroes and one of my favorite actors/directors and again he has proven himself as a director. Hacksaw Ridge was very enjoyable war film since Fury (2014). Andrew Garfield's performance as Desmond Doss was great. War scenes has that brutal and realistic feeling what Gibson can direct perfectly. Braveheart (1995) and Apocalypto (2006) are prove for that. "
"31 January. Mel Gibson goes back to war and have chosen a redeemable story of heroism. And although the title is about a war in Okinawa, it is ultimately about the impossible feat of Pvt. Desmond Doss and how he saved 75 injured soldiers without firing a single shot. Imagine that. A story like this is already the price of admission. And the movie did well, telling Doss’ background story just enough for us to know him that when it comes to hero time, we understand. Andrew Garfield in a win-win "
"02/01/17 Directed by: Mel Gibson This is one of the worst looking movies I've seen in a long time and not a single interesting thing happens ever. I can say it was briefly ok for a bit around 3/4 of the way through and then the ending just had many of the worst things I've ever seen. Gibson's infatuation with slow-motion is the worst thing to ever happen to cinema and the fact that the CGI looks like its from 1997 really drives that point home. "
“The best Gibson. In his extremely high clue, after a long exposition of peace and civilization values in the US, with romance and all that things; quickly it reaches literally a 'high plain' of violence and blood and Desmond heroics. So well done and filmed that the last imge od Desmond floating int he air feels natural. Y deplore Gibson conservative values, but the film is fucking coherent.” read more

*After hearing nothing but positive word of mouth I decided to go ahead and check it out.
*It has a great cast anyways which is a plus.
*Besides that Mel Gibson is a pretty damn good director usually.
*I've never heard of the writers, but I wanted to see The Water Diviner which happens to be written by Andrew Knight.
*Now time to go see if this is any good.
Pros:
*The acting was excellent!
*The people were interesting and likable.
*I was surprised by Vince Vaughn here.
*It's quite an incredible tale of bravery.
