"17.2. 2024 Akerman managed to make somewhat passable films even about very tired subjects, like dysfunctional marriage. "The Captive" tells about an upper class couple, whose marriage is subtly but certainly falling apart. The marriage presented in the film is defined by banality that is related to shallow lifestyle. Akerman doesn't really examine exact reasons on why the feelings between the man and the woman are vanishing, but a few suggestive gestures and cold expressions on people's faces a"
