An average movie

“Even though this movie turned out to be a massive critical and commercial flop, I was still curious to see if it was really so bad. Well, I have to agree that the damned thing was indeed pretty weak. Basically, it was supposed to be some kind of cute, whimsical and perhaps even inspiring tale but it just never worked. Indeed, it turned out to be  a mix of really random and weird scenes. To make things worse, most of the dialogues was filled with some incomprehensible mambo-jambo involving some Camazotz, some tesseract and three mysterious misses who really came from nowhere. Seriously, after 15 minutes, I pretty much gave up trying to understand what the hell was going on and I hope the book made more sense. At least, I hoped it would be visually appealing and the first scenes were promis” read more

Movies the giraffe watched in 2018: March (29 movies items)

"First viewing - March 17th Evidently I'm in the minority so far for supporting A Wrinkle in Time (as I type this the Listal rating is 4.6 and IMDb is 3.4). I took the kiddo to see it (she read the book ahead of time, finished it in one day), and we both really enjoyed it. I was so caught up in the story and the characters and the emotional throughline (which hits all the right spots) that if it had any shortcomings I wasn't aware of them. That's not to say it's a great movie, but I'd gladly wat"

"This could be called an ambitious failure as Ava DuVeray directs the tale of Meg, a young girl whose father has disappeared and she goes in search of him in time and space. The visual effects are impressive as are the cinematography. while its fun to watch a 50 foot Orpah Winfred, the first hour is incredibly slow and the film only takes off when Meg and her gang head off to find her father. A terrific lead performance from newcomer Storm Reid saves the film."

"2018/03/08 @Goodrich, theater 5, row 4 via MoviePass This was probably the best translation from the book that can be expected. The book was trippy, with a little bit of science and a whole lot of magic, and this movie followed suit. Impressive visuals helped counter the rushed pace and confusing story. If you haven't read the book, I would not recommend seeing this movie, since it felt like it was a companion to the book, relying on the audience to understand things that were unexplained. Part"

March to April 2018 Tomatometer Predictions (14 movies items)

"Tomatometer Guess: 54%. Ava DuVernay directs this live-action adaptation of Madeline L'Engel's famous novel of the same name. Actual Score: 40%. A Wrinkle in Time is Visually striking and well-acted but unfortunately suffers from a generic script that tries to adapt the novel scene for scene with mixed results."
