Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII - PlayStation 2
Im a sucker for FF VII and Dirge of Cerberus, while not being great as a shooter combines an intriguing story and one of FF VII's most bad-ass characters.
Final Fantasy XIII - PlayStation 3
Though I don't rate it as highly as other FF titles i think XIII still has a lot to offer in terms of a good story and a fast paced, intense battle system. The characters are a bit hit and miss.
Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls - Game Boy Advance
The first two games in one enhanced package for the GBA. It's a great game to discover what made Final Fantasy so great and popular in the first place.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions - PlayStation Portable
The psp remake of FF Tactics is a great strategy game and deserves to be on this list for its great story and fun, addictive gameplay.
Final Fantasy V - Super famicom and SNES
While not the first FF game to have changable jobs for its characters it certainly does it the best.
Final Fantasy VIII - PlayStation
One of the biggest love/hate games in the series. I loved it but HATED squall as the main character.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 - PlayStation 3
You know what its pretty darn good. Story is okay but gameplay is once again awesome and lots of stuff to do. A lot more of a tradtional FF title than XIII.
Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy - PlayStation Portable
Great beat em up game and so much to do/collect. Takes all the best elements of the FF series and applies them to a fighter. The story isn't fantastic but there are some neat interactions between characters from different games. Plus duodecim contains the whole original game.
Final Fantasy XII 12 game and guide combo - PlayStation 2
XII was massive, beautiful and epic. Can't say I loved the battle system all that much but the story and characters (minus Vaan) were excellent.
Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core - PlayStation Portable
Not often do I find myself getting into the story of a game so much and after playing FF VII, Crisis Core's story was something I really enjoyed. The battle system is great and Zack is a great main character who you'll grow to love a whole lot more than Cloud.

Final Fantasy IX - PlayStation
FF IX brought the series back to it's fantasy roots after a few sci-fi fantasy games before it. It epitomizes everything that makes a great Final Fantasy with gameplay, music, and storyline all top notch.
Final Fantasy X - PlayStation 2
Things just kept getting better for final fantasy after the psx era with FFX the first PS2 game for the series. Very good, emotional story with great characters.

Final Fantasy VI - Super famicom and SNES
Many older fans of Final Fantasy regard six as the best game in the series. It was my second game in the series I'd played after 4 and was and still is a great game. It has a huge cast of characters and the usual atb system, plus KEFKA. Love that evil clown dude.

Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection - PlayStation Portable
The definitive FFIV game featuring the After Years as well as the main game. A great simple storyline and the first atb battle system made FFIV the first truly special Final Fantasy game.
Final Fantasy VII - PlayStation
When it comes to FF games the biggest, most recognizable and in my opinion the best is FF VII. It stunned with it's 3D graphics and CGI cutscenes and has the best ensemble of characters in FF history. If you haven't played FF VII and you love RPGs then I suggest you get it now.
