John Cusack carries this role and with it the entire film. His reactions are mostly what makes this film work, because he reacts exactly the same way a normal person would in his situation, which makes the movie even more frightening.

All of Me (1984)
Steve Martin has to play two characters sharing one body throughout most of the film, and pulls it off perfectly.

Brothers (2009)
Tobey Maguire gives a powerful performance as a soldier that was broken by the horrors of war. His breakdown at the end of the film is both gut-wrenching and scary beyond belief.

The Crucible (1996)
I already think this film is overlooked a lot, and one of the reasons is because of the acting. Of course, Daniel Day Lewis is great, but everyone else is also spectacular, especially Winona Ryder who gives us a cold ruthless young lady who will stop at nothing to get what she wants, and even gets sucked into her own lies.

Clint Eastwood for some reason, makes the audience want to see Frank Morris escape, even though we know we should be rooting for the wardens to keep them in prison.

Once you've watched the movie, watch it again and keep an eye on Christian Bale. It's a very impressive performance.
