Countless, and in some cases, worthless, lists have been made on this particular topic. While many tend to go for the dog-tired cliche selections, others surprise the viewers by their unconventional, or otherwise unfitting, selections. They don't "forget" to include some of the widely praised performances, they just march to their own beat. They, my friends, are the true list-makers. It is they who break new ground!
Anyway, my list is a combination of sorts of the above two mentioned. Don't arch your eyebrows and do not dispose your garbage in the comment box below. That would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
Oscar winners or not, A-listers or Z-listers, these are the 50 most perfect film performances, according to me, of course!
Describe perfect then, some of you may ask. Well, here goes: It's all about in the first-time revelation. The first time when you see the actor or actress appear onscreen in their respective character. If there's one thing I'm mainly concerned on with is the performances. There are bad performances, good ones, great ones, and then there are perfect ones.
You still haven't defined the word perfect yet, you might say. Well, here goes, again: When an actor is dedicated to his character, and connects 100% to it, the result is fairly clear and easy to see. Long-time movie-goers can understand. The twitches, the hand movements, the dialogues, the way of walking, everything shows that the actor is not only trying to put on an impressive performance, but enjoying every minute of it. He becomes the true embodiment of the character and everything he does or says is not only plausible, but very convincing and believable. His job is to convert the characters from papers to the silver-screen, while ours it to do the opposite. There are performances which get better after repeated viewings, some get even worse, but these 50 were perfect, flawless, top-of-the-game from the first time itself. I hope I have explained myself clear.
Of course, I have left many, after all 50 is such a painfully small number as compared to, let's say, 500!
