Sam Peckinpah : A Filmaker Tribute
Sam Peckinpah was born February 25 1925 in Fresno. California and he died December 28 1984 in Inglewood, California.
Sam began is career as a stagehand for KLAC-TV in 1950 and later in 1954 he was hired as Dialogue coach for the movie Riot In Cell Block 11 (1954) directed by Don Siegel and after he worked as a dialogue coach for 4 others Don Siegel's movies Private Hell 36 (1954) An Anapolis Story (1955) Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1956) and Crime In The Streets (1956) and in the late 50's he becamed a script writer for several western tv series like Gunsmoke, The Riffleman, Broken Arrow and Klondike.
In 1961 he released is first movie as a director A Deadly Companions (1961) Starring Maureen O'Hara, Brian Keith, Chill Wills and Steven Cochran and during is succesfull career he directed some great movies like The Wild Bunch (1969) Straw Dogs (1971) The Getaway (1972) Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid (1973) Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia (1974) Convoy (1978) and The Osterman Weekend (1984)
