The great Forties comedy director, Preston Sturges, cast many supporting players again and again. For example, see:

I'll try a list here. I think I'll focus on the supporting cast, and not the leads who did a few pictures with Sturges -- namely Barbara Stanwyck, Joel McCrea and Eddie Bracken. And on Sturges' main run of eight movies between 1940 and 1944, and on performances that got my attention. (There are some actors listed for many of these movies, who I couldn't pick out of a lineup.)
For now, I'll try to be kind of orderly, and not list people who only had one appearance, in one of these great small roles. Maybe that could be another list, or I could give in and put them here.
William Demarest was kind of the prince of this group, acting in all eight of those movies, often with the most prominent of these roles. And I think he was Sturges' acknowledged favorite. Anyway, I love him. :)
