Paul Dano plays both 'Paul' and 'Eli Sunday' (twins) however Eli is the main character that gets mistreated... His character is first insulted when Daniel Day-Lewis' character 'Daniel Plainview' refuses to pay the money he promised and when Dano's character decides to ask for it again at a really poor time (just after Daniel's son loses his hearing in an accident) he gets slapped around by Daniel and dragged into the oily mud where Daniel continues to slap him in the face, and this time rubbing mud all over it as well. He then tells Eli he's going to bury him underground.

Eli later gets his own back on Daniel when he is forced to join the church Eli is pastor at (a condition of an offer to get some land he needed). Eli humiliates him during his intuition by continuously slapping him and making him shout "I am a sinner" in front of the entire church gathering. Paul Dano thought he'd finally caught a break...tut tut...

Many years later, Eli is head of a much larger church but is in financial crisis and so visits Daniel to try and create a bargain for some land he thinks Daniel needs. Daniel accepts, on the condition that Eli confesses, "I am a false prophet; God is a superstition" and so giving him the same humiliation he gave to Daniel years ago. After further mocking Eli makes the confession, many times on Daniels order and then Daniel tells him it was all for nothing as he doesn’t even need the land anymore, saying "I drink your milkshake."

He continues to insult Eli, telling him that his brother was the smart twin. Suddenly Daniel goes into an angry rage and chases a now scared and crying Eli around his home-bowling rink and then smashes his head in with a bowling pin. A pretty nasty way to go.

Looper (2012)
Paul Dano plays 'Seth' who is one of the loopers, a person paid in silver to kill and dispose of victims who are sent from the future. A looper is forced to kill their future self when they are retired and so he was already going to meet a not too decent end, however this is Paul Dano's character after all and so his end is much nastier...
Example of what should be done:

It all starts when he fails to kill his future self and therefore both versions of him are to be punished with death.

Seth is captured after his friend betrays him and gives away his hiding place, however the crime syndicate who hire the loopers need to make sure the future version is killed too and so they begin to work... First they carve the address on to the younger Seths arm so the scars appear on the older version, he begins to make his way to the address, however he starts to notice some of his fingers disappearing and then his nose vanishes as well. As he's driving to the address as fast as possible he tries to press the breaks but his foot has gone, he still arrives and hobbles out the car, he tries to shout for them to stop but his tongue is now gone too, as he stumbles across the street, he loses his other foot and legs up to the knee, he tries to bang on the door but his arms vanish, he falls back, the door opens and he's is shot and killed. Obviously the future Seth isn't Paul Dano, it is Frank Brennan, however the actual torture, and therefore pain and abuse, is happening off screen to Paul Dano, and as the door opens at the end of the scene, you catch a glimpse of the 'operating' table which looks really nasty and to be honest I found this scene kind of disturbing to watch ;o

I couldn't find any decent pictures of the scene, so here's the whole thing. Even without showing any gore, this is some fucked up repugnant shit!

Here Paul Dano plays 'Percy Dolarhyde', some douche who has a powerful dad and so he thinks he can boss everyone around, I guess he deserves the abuse this time. Granted his dad is Harrison Ford, which would be pretty epic, but still no need to be a douche. Percy is first introduced when he is randomly shooting his gun around the town, insulting people and giving out some abuse himself, however his is about to begin.

He goes around all the people demanding money, he reaches Daniel Craig’s character 'Jake Lonergan' who simply offers him a warning instead of money, to which Percy gloats about who he is, Jake just stands there thinking 'bitch please' and knees him straight in the nuts.

Enough abuse for one day? Not for Paul Dano! He's eventually locked up, for accidentally shooting a deputy, where he is in the neighbour cell to Jake. He starts to tease Jake by spitting on him to wake him up and telling him what will happen when his 'Pa' gets here. However Jake's having none of it and grabs Percy through the bars and slams his head straight into them, flooring him of course.

They are both chained together in the back of a couch to be transported to a judge, Percy pleads with the sheriff to no affect, and even his dad is pissed off with him and demands him to shut up. The aliens attack and so the only way they can escape the chain is by Percy's arm being broken by Jake, they get out but then Percy's misery continues as he is abducted by the aliens.

He is later rescued with all the other prisoners and actually lives through this one!

***CONTAINS SPOILERS***

I randomly noticed that in quite a few film's I'd seen, this guys characters always seem to get picked on, beaten up or brutally killed.

Check how innocent this poor guy looks:

Why do directors hate him? ;o

Of course after I'd already started this list I realised I was being stupid and that it didn't actually happen that often in his movies, just the three I'd seen(I think), nontheless it's still worth a mention!
