My Year at the Cinema: 2010

Jan 16. I didn't realise there was a twist so it came as a complete surprise. Good action scenes and any film that features Michael Gambon and Frances De La Tour grooving to Ring My Bell can't be bad.

Jan 16. I found this very funny, great interaction and snappy dialogue.

Jan 16. Not a fan of vampire moveies but this had an interesting premise. Can't believe it's only a 15 certificate, many of the scenes are quite bloody and gruesome.

Feb 11. Great performances, hope it's not based on a true story.

Feb 11. Wierd but funny. Gotta get me one of them alter-egos.

Feb 11. Slightly distracted by the rat running up and down the aisle and between the seats every five minutes but enjoyed it nevertheless.

Feb 26. Some of the action editing was a bit fast (did anybody figure out what was happening in the mortuary buzz saw attack?) but it was ok, I guess. Saw the original at a Scala all-nighter but can't remember much about it. I'm starting to like Timothy Oliphant as a leading actor, though.

Feb 26. Enjoyable to watch but not really any laugh out loud moments. Maybe the humour was too French.

Feb 26. Film of the day. Excellent performance by Jeff Bridges, hope he gets the Oscar. Can't stand country music but liked the songs too.

Feb 26. I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as the reviews have suggested. Well made and well acted, some of it was a bit slow and I was wishing they would get on with it but it was fine. Anyone spot Peter Jackson's cameo? I did (in the camera shop, testing out a camcorder)

Mar 19. I don't usually see these type of films but it was perfectly ejoyable. I wanted to see it as I know Mark Kermode will be ranting about it.

Mar 19. Gripping story, well plotted and great performances. Can't wait for the next two. Hope Noomi Rapace is in them as well.

Mar 19. Very funny. From the makers of Bad Santa so you know what you're going to get, and it doesn't disappoint.

Apr 1. (twice) Fantastic, definitely lived up to the hype. Superb action, humour and even quite moving. Film of the year so far.

Apr 8. Very funny. I'm a sucker for time travel movies (how do you explain seeing all three Butterfly Effect movies) but this is a good addition, with funny dialogue and 80's music and references. Plus, how can you NOT see a film called "Hot Tub Time Machine".

Apr 8. (twice) Very very funny. The comparisons with Dads Army are spot on, as these guys are a bunch of idiots. Hilarious, with lots of laugh out loud moments, but at the same time quite sad, especially the ending.

May 27. Surreal at times but Nicolas Cage is never less than full on, a joy to watch him.

As a huge fan of the games I was wary of this but it's fine, although I did find myself thinking which buttons I would be pressing to perform certain actions (as I'm halfway through the last PoP game). Jake Gyllenhall is the spitting image of the Prince. Good fun and Alfred Molina is good value too.

June 25. Funny interplay between characters, although the sudden change in their relationship didn't quite work (either that or I've gotta learn some foot massage techniques).

June 25. Worked for me. I seem to have the same opinion on life as Larry David's charachter, not sure whether to be worried or not. Not a great fan of Woody Allen but did enjoy this one.

July 16. Enjoyable actioner. After the pointless Aliens -v- Predators detour, this puts the series back on track in fine style. Adrian Brody is a great action (anti) hero and I hope there's a sequel.

July 16. Excellent action packed thriller where leaving your brain at the door is NOT a good idea. You really do have to keep up, but it's all the more rewarding for it. I have to see it again - IMAX ticket already booked.
