I already saw this movie but since it was a while back and since I have it on DVD, I was quite eager to check it out again. Since I am a huge fan of the original version directed by Abel Ferrara, I was definitely intrigued by this 'remake'. (MU) Herzog's last masterpiece. Ferrera's original shrinks while we see how Nicholas Cage (never better) involves his life, and in the second half lives a paralel reality with his prostitute yonki friend (Eva Mendes). She tries to rehab while not always bad Nick goes to hell, before that resumes his life finds the reasure of his childhood....Herzoz observes all as the lurking alligator....
