Jarmusch - Ranked

An overlooked masterpiece. The visuals are absolutely beautiful, shot by the great Dutch cinematographer Robby Muller. The atmopshere is dark, hypnotic and hallucinatory. The opening train sequence is one of my favourite scenes. It really sets the trip in motion,fading in and out with the chugging of the train, creating a mesmerising rhythm.

Johnny Depp gives an understated, nuanced performance as William Blake.

Filled with beautiful touching moments, and there are some hilarious scenes (particularly the two scenes that involve Billy Bob Thorton and Robert Mitchum).
