Marked (House of Night, Book 1) - P. C. Cast, Kristin Cast
Worst book I've ever read !
Just terrible. The writing was especially atrocious. You can feel the authors everywhere. Not once do you forget that this is a story, which came from someone's mind. It's impossible to believe in the characters or escape into their world.
The whole thing felt very forced, like it was written to be sold, without passion, without the slightest need to actually tell a story. The authors obviously just asked themselves "what do teenagers like these days ?" and then tried to do a mix of Twilight, Harry Potter and Gossip Girl.

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades #1) - E L James
The only reason I didn't give this half a star is because to me, fifty shades of grey falls into the category of "so bad it's good". I had fun despising the characters and was amused by the author's... writing style. Actually, I might have rated it 3/10 if there had been less boredom mixed with the hilarity of it all... No, I'm kidding, 2/10 already seems too much. I might read the next one, someday, if I need a good laugh. But I probably won't.

The Warlord Wants Forever (Immortals After Dark)... - Kresley Cole
This book is about a vampire spending 5 years with a permanent erection and making love to his sheets... and then forcing a Valkyrie to be his girlfriend and using her as a sex slave with the help of a magic belt... And then she falls in love with him because he has a such a huge penis ... And they live happily ever after... and this was written by a woman...
I don't understand.

The Book of Three (Prydain Chronicles) - Lloyd Alexander
Abandoned
I read half of it... I had to give up. This is an awful book, feels like it was written by a twelve yearl old. And it is a total ripoff of the lord of the rings and it seems the author didn't even try to be subtle about it.
Total waste of my time !

Eragon (Inheritance, Book 1) - Christopher Paolini
I read the first two books years ago, and I read them in French... and I loved them. I remember myself saying "This is almost as good as Harry Potter".
I re-read the first one last year, in English. And I don't know what younger Me was thinking. I guess it's because I was a teenager at the time, and because the translation made the writing seem much much better than it was. And really, the translation should NEVER be better than the original.

He's Just Not That into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys... - Liz Tuccillo,Greg Behrendt
abandoned
Divergent (Divergent Trilogy, Book 1) - Veronica Roth
Bad writing, predictable "twists and turns", and a seriously detestable heroine.
It's also a complete rip-off of the hunger games series, especially the third one. I mean really, I don't know how Veronica Roth got away with it. It's shameful !
And the talentless get richer and richer...

Dear John - Nicholas Sparks
Abandoned
Such boring dialogue. I hate small talk in real life, so reading small talk is the last thing I look for in a book.
The author tries to convince his readers that there's some serious connecting on a deep level but all I saw was extremely shallow conversation.
The characters were so... normal and boring and fake.
This book made me so nauseous, I could not keep reading.

Don't be offended if your favorite book is on this list. OF COURSE it's just my opinion.
