Quadrophenia - The Who
Tommy seemed to me an album of pop but Quadrophenia was something else. Somewhat flawed but otherwise brilliant. Simply works.
Songs of Leonard Cohen - Leonard Cohen
I loved her in the morning. It's now late afternoon and I still do. Cohen, mainstream folks don't give him the courtesy that so readily given to rap, or punk for that matter. Funniest man on stage of the few dozen concerts I ever went to; and one I'd always take my girlfriend to...
Déjà Vu - Crosby Stills Nash & Young
Of course CSNY and Deja vu, but why do I have the feeling that this album is over-rated.
Court and Spark - Joni Mitchell
Damn it an all, you're supposed to like Joni Mitchell - and you just know she's brilliant. But it's hard work sometimes, her lyrics seem to be just on the cusp on being insightful and then they leave you hanging. Maybe's a female poet thing? But I did make it to Ft McLeod, that's a hell of a place to have to say you're from.
Sweet Baby James - James Taylor
James Taylor or Ralph McTell, you choose. And do we through John Martyn in there too. I think so. Well there were no covers of Not Til Tomorrow around so Sweet Baby James it is. But I need a McTell album so I can tell my McTell story...
Trilogy - Emerson Lake & Palmer
First ELP, bought in Baltimore of all places - prices were cheaper and then they add the taxes on at the till. Did I feel ripped off or what!
Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan
After 20 plus albums, this is still the best Dylan.
If you see her, say hello. No, I really mean it, if you see her say hello. Always wonder what happened to her.

Excitable Boy - Warren Zevon
I don't know when and where I discovered Zevon - but now I've always wanted to do Roland at Karoake but like Cohen, they never have it.
Tapestry - Carole King
Ah yes of course, the female James Taylor, well maybe, just a thought. Not a tapestry, a patchwork quilt; just as interesting, perhaps more so, but not seamless and you have to step back to appreciate the whole.
Donovan's Greatest Hits - Donovan
Hey, Donovan's Scots, really! So I can't say anything negative can I? Let's just call him Saffron, kinda sums him up perhaps.
Parallel Lines - Blondie_III
Coming back to this album after a while you just wish it got the modern treatment with fuller richer sound - always had a feeling that the real way to see Blondie was in a small venue where the sound is truly surround sound.
Abby Road - The Beatles
I appreciate the genius of the Beatles but was never a great fan - not one of the albums I listen to much if ever. Typo entering the data - but it's somehow appropriate, Dear Abby...
Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield
And just who didn't have this one when at University - a fusion album before fusion was thought of. But we were experiencing fusion all along back then.
Joan Armatrading - Joan Armatrading
Cross over into Blues. Always like the sound of the female vocalist blues and then one night I was having supper at Super Pollo, an Argentinian restaurant in Miami would you believe. The place was empty but for the four of us. It was made special by having beer from every country in South America - so I ticked off Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru, figuring some day I'll get to Chile.
And then this young woman gets up to sing - a Rostropovich moment, truly amazing - tipped her 20 bucks, she wasn't going to make much that evening.

Fleetwood Mac - Greatest Hits - Fleetwood Mac
Me myself have never figured Fleetwood Mac out - Albatross is it but then I discovered there were words as well. Eventually did get a real album, Rumours of course, years after it came out, from a record club deal.
After the Gold Rush [Vinyl] - Neil Young
in the 1970s, was Neil prescient or what! Got to be one of the greatest ever albums.
