Julie & Julia (2009)
This is one of the best foodie movies I've seen in a really long time. Even though food does appear many times on the screen, the movie is more about what food can do to your life and how a person can think about it. This movie, perhaps more than any of the others on this list, show how food can be a lifestyle and a philosophy.

Chef (2014)
This movie is what the term "food porn" was invented for. I had flashbacks to culinary school and working in restaurants while watching this movie. It was beautiful, lovingly made and food was a wonderful vehicle to tell a story about love, life, and family.
Foodie's rating:

The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014)
An "east meets west" story of two cultures coming together with some very delicious results. I quite enjoyed this movie!
Foodie's rating:

Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2012)
I never thought I would be moved to tears over a documentary about sushi, but this managed to do that. I highly recommend this, I really, truly loved it.
Big Night (1996)
An Italian family restaurant in America. The big night is coming and you know the food has to be amazing! Believe me, it is!
Last Holiday (2006)
Food is featured heavily and beautifully in this movie. It factors into the main character's life in several parts throughout the film.
Ratatouille (2007)
Pixar really outdid themselves with this movie. They sent the animators to The French Laundry in Napa Valley to study how the cooks actually cook, and learned how to do some of the cooking themselves to help with accuracy. I can tell them from my own restaurant days, that it definitely paid off.
Foodie's rating:

Eat Drink Man Woman (1994)
Directed by the awesome Ang Lee, this movie showcases food more amazingly than any other foodie movie. Set in Taipei, and focusing on a family whose father is the head chef at a fancy hotel restaurant, this movie uses both restaurant cooking and home cooking to tell the story.
Foodie's rating:

East Side Sushi (2014)
I really liked the blending of cultures in this movie. Mexican and Japanese? Who knew they'd come together so perfectly!
Babette's Feast (1987)
This is perhaps the foodiest of foodie movies. Preparation, presentation, eating, it's all highlighted in this film. This movie will definitely make you hungry.
Foodie's rating:

Woman on Top (2000)
Told in the style of a fairy tale, this movie has some of the most amazing and nummy-looking food you'll ever see on film.
Foodie's rating:

Like Water for Chocolate (1992)
Another story told in the style of a fairy tale, this movie tells of a Mexican family and the role that food plays in the relationships with one another. Another movie that will make you really hungry.
Foodie's rating:

Nina's Heavenly Delights (2006)
This movie is set in Scotland and focuses on an Indian-Scottish family. The daughter tries to follow in her father's footsteps by taking over the restaurant and entering it into the annual curry cook-off. The food in this movie is so vibrant and the spices featured are used so heavily you can almost smell it through your tv screen.
Foodie's rating:

Who didn't have fantasies about that chocolate factory growing up! I chose this version instead of the more recent remake because I felt the food was more of a focus in the original. The colors were so luscious that it makes your mouth water over the delicious candy!
Foodie's rating:

Tortilla Soup (2001)
This is a remake of Eat Drink Man Woman, but set in 1990's America with a Mexican American family. The food is really gorgeous in this film.
Foodie's rating:

No Reservations (2007)
This is a remake of a French movie, I believe, but it's really sweet. And very accurate in the cooking techniques. They also studied at The French Laundry I believe, only they made the actors do the cooking and practicing.
Foodie's rating:

The Joy Luck Club (1993)
Chinese cooking is showcased in this film. Food is used as a way to connect to the past, and to family, and to one's culture. It also looks amazing.
Foodie's rating:

Passionada (2002)
The pivotal love scene in this film revolves around a sensuous dinner. Portuguese-American culture is the focus of this film, and food definitely plays a big role.
Foodie's rating:

The Godfather (1972)
From bowls of oranges in the background, to making spaghetti sauce while planning who to whack next, to the stunning wedding opener, The Godfather shows what food is to Italian/Sicilian culture. It pervades every aspect of life, just as it should!
Foodie's rating:

My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
The family in this film uses food to show their love for one another. It's used as a social event, and is celebrated.
Foodie's rating:

Soul Food (1997)
This movie doesn't show cooking so much as it shows the importance of eating together as a family that keeps you together and close and connected to one another.
Foodie's rating:

A Christmas Story (1983)
An unlikely foodie movie, but it fits the definition because one of the major plots of the movie involves Christmas dinner and the trials and tribulations involved in that. And also the trials and tribulations of having a picky eater in the family. "Show me how the piggies eat!"...
Foodie's rating:

Beauty and the Beast (1991) (1991)
This qualifies as a foodie movie only because of the "Be Our Guest" sequence. Definitely a good amount of delicious food there!
Foodie's rating:

This doesn't seem like a foodie movie, but it actually is. One of the characters in the movie becomes interested in food, in a really unexpected way, that changes his entire outlook on life. I think it really goes to show what food can really do in one's life.
Foodie's rating:

Pieces of April (2003)
I checked this one out based on one of the comments on this list and decided to add it. This movie isn't about the act or beauty of food and cooking so much as it uses food and cooking as a vehicle to showcase community. Food brings people together, as this movie shows. It's a different aspect of food that isn't showcased quite as much as any other movie on this list.
Foodie's rating:

American Adobo (2001)
This movie is about a Filipino-American family and their friend, and the role that food plays in their social outings and family events. Food keeps them together year after year at Christmas, catching up over a tasty meal.
Foodie's rating:

Set in NYC, this story tells the tale of two pizza shops. It's a sort of modern day foodie version of Romeo and Juliet. Watch it while eating your favorite pizza.
Foodie's rating:

Definitely dark and twisted, and the only cannibal movie I was willing to add to this list, because the baking/cooking process is actually showcased in the film. Most other cannibal movies are under dire circumstances where survival is the only reason behind it. The idea of food in this movie is actually a large part of it, and so I deemed it at least an honorary foodie film. But don't watch it on a full stomach...trust me...
Foodie's rating:

The Adventures of Food Boy (2008)
This rather silly movie actually does qualify as a foodie movie. Not so much about cooking, but food itself is a very important part of this movie, as the title should probably point out to you.
Foodie's rating:

Waitress (2007)
The story of a young woman who uses baking as a form of escapism, and dreams of opening her own bakery some day.
Foodie's rating:

Vatel (2000)
This movie showcases really beautiful food, and the importance of food presentation.
Foodie's rating:

Simply Irresistible (1999)
This is a cute movie, very much a fairy tale, total fantasy, but food does play a major role in the story.
Foodie's rating:

Due to the newness of this movie and not wanting to spoil anything, I will not say anything about this movie except that in my eyes, it does qualify as a "foodie" movie.
Foodie's rating:

A list of movies where cooking, eating, or food played a major role in the film. One of the main qualifications for being a foodie movie was that it had to play an important part, it couldn't just be a movie with food in the background a few times.
