Adore (2013)

For far too many say that this film seems to simply be a story of two maturing women having affairs with two younger men, but not for me. As this list proclaims, to me these are films that I have prized and delighted in based on the atmosphere of the film and its overall mood. And this film, within those realms, is refreshing and often magical.
The feeling is clean, crisp and natural. The mood is like a life spent within a timeless, lazy summer dream. The eroticism is moving, heartfelt and stimulating. And it must be said that Robin Wright's performance is nothing less of dazzling while dripping with a sophistication that only a seasoned heart might apperceive.
I must say that I adore Adore.

The Return (2006)

This film has received so much criticism and blatant hate from, my perspective, the onslaught of horror film goers looking for that cheap fright-filled thrill, with disappointment ensuing.
However, when viewed with a more thoughtful ideal, though, be as it may - advertised as horror, what I found was achieved was something far more savory and distinguished.
This is a film that bathes you in a dark and haunting mood and that revels in atmosphere instead of scares.
Nevertheless, it does have its thrilling moments. It is not so frightful that it will have you scream, turn your head or cringe at the nonexistent gore. Rather you might tighten your grip on your armchair for a short and sweet time. While through most of the film you will most likely find yourself observing a loitering pace down shadow-enchanted dark and somber, inky moods that lull you into a dim hypnotic trance.
However, the plot, though lightly interesting is not entirely ideal. The mood of this film is what captivates me most and has had me re-watching it on sleepy days where I longed to feed an inner ache for a murky temperament to enhance the common air.
--I might add that I am not usually a fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar's in your face-type personality, but here I find her presence muted enough to not only make her bearable, but perhaps even likable.... Maybe it's the darker hair, and less wordy lines.
