I'd consider The Peacemaker one of the underrated action thrillers. The action is entertaining, though nothing too special. What makes it stick out is story and the way it's delivered. Yes, the film is sometimes unrealistic, sometimes stereotyping, but it definetly respects viewer's intelligence. We don't have the standard effect ride, we don't have the standard shootouts, we don't have the leading couple kissing each other in the end and we don't have the standard villian with no motive and background. Instead, we have more subtle moments but nevertheless enjoyable action scenes and good thrills. Plus the chemistry between Clooney and Kidman works perfectly.

Same as Armageddon – which came out the exact same year – , except more adult and much, much more melo-dramatic. Had a wonderful premise of Earth in front of a common fear and an absolute destruction but in the end it's US-centric and merely nothing else but annoying.

Plot holes, illogical events, bad twists, an unispiring obligatory love story and two charismatic actors in a letdown of a movie that brings absolutely nothing new to the heist genre. In fact, the best part of the film occurs when they talk of other heist films.
