Natalie Hershlag was born on June 9, 1981 in Jerusalem, Israel to Shelley Stevens and Avner Hershlag. She later adapted her grandma's surname Portman and used it as her stage name.
Natalie got her first role starring in Luc Besson's Léon: The Professional, she got recognition for her brilliant performance as Mathilda.
Natalie got her big brake starring in the highly anticipated Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace playing the role of Padmé Amidala. This role was a turning point in her career because it made her famous and got the attention of many fans. She later went to star in 2 more star wars film.
