Coffin Joe Films
Dir: José Mojica Marins
(This film begins the story of Coffin Joe and his search for the "perfect" woman to continue his superior bloodline.)
Dir: José Mojica Marins
(This film picks up right where At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul left off, and continues Coffin Joe's sadistic quest.)
Dir: José Mojica Marins
(This film does not continue the storyline of the "Coffin Joe" character. It features José Mojica Marins, as "Coffin Joe", introducing the viewer to an anthology of three horror tales titled: O Fabricante de Bonecas (The Dollmaker), Tara (Obsession), and Ideologia (Theory). In the third tale Marins plays the part of Oãxiac Odéz, a psychotic professor (much in the spirit of the "Coffin Joe" character).
Dir: José Mojica Marins
(Like The Strange World of Coffin Joe above, this movie does not continue the storyline of Coffin Joe that was begun in At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul and This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse. In this film the effects of drug use in Brazilian society is discussed by a panel of doctors, writers, etc and José Mojica Marins is on the panel. This film-within-a-film concept with Marins appearing as himself would be used again in O Exorcismo Negro and Hallucinations of a Deranged Mind. The "perversions" caused by drug usage is shown in surreal vignettes. Then a group of volunteers is "dosed" with LSD. The film has been in black & white up to this point but switches to vivid color after the dosing. They are then subjected to the madness of Coffin Joe!)
Dir: José Mojica Marins
(Marins appears as himself in this film as a director who travels to a farm to visit friends for Christmas and write the story for his next film. While at the farm his friends become possessed by supernatural forces and Marins learns that his alter-ego, Coffin Joe, wants their souls.)
Dir: José Mojica Marins
(This movie was pieced together with scenes from prior Coffin Joe films, many of which were originally cut from the films by Brazilian censors at the time. The framework story involves a psychologist who is plagued by dreams of Coffin Joe kidnapping his wife for the purpose of continuing his bloodline through her. The man's colleagues then contact the filmmaker José Mojica Marins to convince the psychologist that Coffin Joe is just a character in a film)

short film
(A video promo for the Rock Rocket's song "Doidao. It features José Mojica Marins as Coffin Joe)
Dir: Raymond Castile
short film
(A tribute to José Mojica Marins "Coffin Joe" character as played by Raymond Castile. Castille would go on to play the young version of "Coffin Joe" in José Mojica Marins Embodiment of Evil, also in 2008)
Dir: José Mojica Marins
(This film continues the storyline of Coffin Joe that left off with the 1967 film This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse and completes a trilogy which began with At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul in 1964. It has been 40 years since Coffin Joe was imprisoned. He is finally released and renews his obsession with finding the "perfect" woman to continue his bloodine.)

(José Mojica Marins as Coffin Joe makes an appearance in this metafilm)
Brazilian filmmaker, José Mojica Marins, created his alter-ego "Coffin Joe" for his surreal 1964 film At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul, which also happens to be the first Brazilian horror film. Coffin Joe is a sadistic undertaker who despises religion and emotion and is concerned only with finding his idea of the "perfect" woman to continue his superior bloodline. Marins has continued to play the character up to the most recent film Embodiment of Evil in 2008. "Coffin Joe" is the English translation of the original Portuguese name "Zé do Caixão". In Marin's native Brazil, Coffin Joe is a horror icon and has appeared on television, in comics, and in music videos. Sadly, he is not quite as well known outside Brazil but he does have a diehard and loyal fanbase worldwide.
