Taxi Driver (1976)
I've heard that the real life New York of the 1970's was pretty damn bad, not much of a stretch from the New York of Taxi Driver. Of course, New York has been "cleaned up" since then.
ChihuahuaDaddy's rating:
Rio De Janeiro in the Tropa De Elite films sure looks like a total toilet, much like Rio is said to be in real life.
ChihuahuaDaddy's rating:
Yes, Star Wars! The whole series.
Would you really want to live in the Star Wars universe? Sure, Jar Jar Binks is great for some laughs, but the series is called Star WARS for a reason. Even if there were no war in the galaxy, the Empire would be quite an unpleasant place to live.

Death Wish (1974)
New York and Los Angeles in the Death Wish universe definitely count as dystopias.
It may be set in Japan, but I could easily imagine this happening in the future in some U.S. states, such as Texas and my schizophrenic home state of Arizona.
ChihuahuaDaddy's rating:
Detroit in the Robocop universe. Strangely, the real life Detroit looks even worse, if the media is to be believed.

Idiocracy (2006)
No list of dystopias is complete without the dumbed down world of Idiocracy. Every year, it feels like the world is getting closer to a real life Idiocracy.
One positive thing about the future society - at least President Camacho is a better president than George W. Bush!
