Red White & Blue (2010)
JUST SAY FUCK IT FILMMAKING that makes you glad to know they still make raw, ballsy, daring films like this now days. Rough around the edges with moments of sheer cinematic genius. MUST SEE PLUS A MILLION.

JayTrotter's rating:

Relics: Einstein's Brain (1994)
The greatest documentary in the world that only a handful of people have seen which is total bullshit. Top 3 all-time doc for me. Who has the fucking rights? How can I buy them and release this on dvd or blu-ray???

JayTrotter's rating:

Satan (2006)
Weirdo Eurotrash horror that reeks of discomfort and filth featuring Vincent Cassel in a performance to never be forgotten and THE MOST FUCKING INSANE FINAL 30 MINUTES YOU'LL SEE THIS YEAR OR POSSIBLY THE NEXT THREE.

JayTrotter's rating:

A low budget horror flick that slowly works its way under your skin and becomes deeply entrenched in your mind and somehow your fuggin heart. One of the most unappreciated b-movie horror films I've ever seen.

JayTrotter's rating:

I Think We're Alone Now (2008)
I went in expecting a weird n' funny doc about two fans who are REALLY big Tiffany fans but instead I came out traumatized and unable to think straight for the rest of the day.

JayTrotter's rating:

If you like horror movies and haven't seen this film THEN YOU ARE SERIOUSLY FUCKING UP! Gory, gorgeous and great. The dubbed version has Gary Oldman in an uncredited role as the voice of the evil fetus.

JayTrotter's rating:

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010)
Flips the hillbillies terrorizing college kids in the woods genre movie on its goofy ass head. Long time pals Tucker and Dale just want a nice weekend of fishing and beers but these damn college kids are the ones trying to make them squeal like a pig! Top notch comedic acting, gore oh plenty, and just fun as shit.

Altered (2006) (2007)
Think if the guys from Fire in the Sky wanted revenge on the aliens that abducted their friend. Told with a serious tone rather than a comical one and yet it still really really works. Solid all around with some bitchin' moments and scenes.

JayTrotter's rating:

Lance Henriksen vs. Eric Roberts in an ambitious b-movie screenplay with a ridiculous yet stylish plot twist. Just damn fine entertainment watching those two bad asses play off each other.

JayTrotter's rating:

The Living and the Dead (2006)
I'd say it's something like Requiem for a Dream meets The Shining meets I Am Sam. From the writer/director of Red, White & Blue.

JayTrotter's rating:

Zero-budget visual heavy horror filmmaking with practically no dialogue that blew me away. That damn kitty cat just had go for a walk huh?

JayTrotter's rating:

Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999)
So underrated of a mockumentary on beauty pageants and all the psychotic ladies that want to be #1. Seriously one of the best comedies of the past 20 years. Will Sasso makes you hate yourself as you laugh at him. Cast is stacked.

JayTrotter's rating:

Fightville (2011)
A documentary on mixed martial arts that is truly amazing. It does for MMA what Beyond The Mat did for Pro-Wrestling. WAR Dustin Poirier!

JayTrotter's rating:

Burning Bright (2010) (2012)
A young girl and her autistic brother are trapped inside their house with a tiger in the middle of a hurricane. Hahahahaha yeah I know. It's a pretty cool little genre thriller.

JayTrotter's rating:

I really don't understand how this movie hasn't gained more of a cult following. Some of the crazy visuals and bizarre scenes in this movie are unreal. Get the director's cut for an awesome scene with Vincent Gallo doing his best De Niro and Pesci impersonation in front of Raging Bull as it plays on the big screen! Jerry Lewis as well baby!!!

JayTrotter's rating:

Completely ignored 70s film dealing with divorce and its effect on the kids. Deserves placement alongside Kramer vs. Kramer and The Squid and the Whale imo.

JayTrotter's rating:

The Attic (1980)
I love the imdb plot summary on this one cause you'll immediately know whether you wanna see the movie or not,
"Woman librarian devotes life to caring for wheelchair-bound tyrannical father after being stood up at altar. She fantasizes his death and finds joy only with her pet monkey. Monkey disappears and a shocking past is revealed."

White Palace (1990)
Fantastic romance flick with an all time cinema history sex scene. Tons of unique, sweet moments, wonderful chemistry between Spader and Surandon but sadly the movie comes complete with a piece of shit tacked on studio/test audience ending that doesn't fit with the rest of the film at all. Real shame cause with the right ending it could've been a mini-classic. Highly recommended though.

JayTrotter's rating:

Drive (2011)
That soundtrack, that jacket, that Brooks, that lighting, that violence, that Clippers hat, that hammer, that styleeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Pretty cool.

The Burning (1981)
One of the best all around 80s slasher films out there. Tom Savini's gore fx is a bloody joy to behold. That's not a pun, I just went British for a second.

JayTrotter's rating:

Dance with the Devil (1997)
Kinetic angry sex and violence populated by large doses of insane camera work by Alex de la Iglesia who always needs more respect on his name. Javier Bardem, Rosie Perez and James Gandolfini go STRAIGHT MAD CAP!

Intruder (1989)
Film student filmmaking feel where every shot is trying to be cool and some of the most fucked up slasher gore out there. Good times will be had and and it shall be coated in blood! Bruce Campbell cameo too!

JayTrotter's rating:

Right at Your Door (2006)
Dirty bomb goes off in LA and chaos runs amok. We focus on one guy, sealed inside his house and the person trapped outside, unable to come inside, his wife.

JayTrotter's rating:

Heat (1986)
Burt Reynolds kicks the shit out of people while wearing outfits worth more than your car. The blackjack sequence is a ride and killer 80s Vegas scenery to boot.

JayTrotter's rating:

Based on the true story of the two week "Stanford Prison Experiment" where a makeshift prison is created in a research lab setting with real cells, real bars and surveillance cameras. 20 male guinea pigs. Some play the roles of prisoners, some guards. Things get out of control.

Calvaire (2004) (2005)
More strange euro horror with a disturbing, surreal, darkly comedic feel. Like the scene below, I still don't know what the fuck was going on there.

Five college graduates go on one last big road trip before they really have to face the real world and figure out what the fuck to do with their lives.

JayTrotter's rating:

A young Italian boy stumbles upon a large hole in the ground that contains another small young boy, chained up. Innocence lost and frightening truths gained.

JayTrotter's rating:

Spiral (2007)
That creepy dude at work might be more than just creepy. He might be dangerous and you might be his next victim. How does that make you feel?

JayTrotter's rating:

Splinter (2008) (2009)
A The Thing-like monster/disease attacks some wacky people at a gas station. Fun times with some especially brutal moments that make you go, UNNNGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

Been on bit of a horror kick lately so this list is a bit heavy on the scary, terror filled flicks.

Not every flick here is a top to bottom masterpiece (well some are dammit) but I will guarantee you that every flick is filled with an OH SHIT moment or two or strives for something big n' bold n' ballsy or will be branded into your brain until the very day you die. Or just all 3. Enjoy ya rat basta'ds!
Also, some are just amazing some are just underrated some are just obscure and some are just bizarre but most of the time there's a little mix n matching crossover going on but don't expect each flick to meet all four criteria. All I know is all these flicks just need more love.
