Gunstar Heroes is a side scrolling shooter. The player has four weapons to choose from, and they can be combined in various pairs to create a total of 14 unique weapons. In addition to the weapons, the player can engage enemies in close quarters combat. It is possible to grab and toss enemies, perform a sliding and jumping attacks and a long-range skid.

"One of those kinds of games you won't understand until you have tried it for yourself. This is like a Contra game, but more colorful. The world class action and the animation are so well designed and complex you wouldn't believe the whole thing was released on a 16-bit Sega console back in the early 90's."
