^ Yeah, I also have that problem. But I just tried to upload pics from the main page of the profile, and it worked. Inside of the gallery upload function doesn't work.

1. I don't think anyone else mentioned this but I could be wrong: icons are not displaying for lists of lists.
2. It might be nice to add in a new system for ages, while everything is changing. It'd be nice to input a partial birthdate, even if not having the whole thing meant the system couldn't calculate age. But a lot of times you can find the year and/or month a person was born, so it'd be nice to have an option to include those in the stats on a profile without having to also know the exact day.

I have a bunch of other little things to mention as far as suggestions for new things but that's good for now.

Actually, I have one other suggestion that would be helpful sooner rather than later.

It'd be nice if we could mass edit certain list options. For instance, none of my image lists have a set category. It'd be nice to go through and select multiple lists and have options to set category, make private/public, etc. Otherwise I have to go through and set almost 200 image lists to a certain category and that's not going to be fun.

I'd also like to be able to select more than one category for some lists. Some lists, like many of mine and such as those lists of ball gowns at events or whatever, might fit into both people and fashion, for example. Or it'd be nice to set a list to both the music and people categories. And so on. Even if we could just select two or three, that'd be awesome.

new site seems nice :) wanted to add a city on places but doesn't work add item it is correct ?

The description of a movie list, "who voted" and "related lists" is below the movie pics at the end of the page, no matter if I set poster view, 4 columns, 3 columns or shelf. I want it beside the posters, like it was before in the old version of listal.

And I cannot add one of my personal pics to one of my lists. The name of the list is not shown, when I click on "Add to list".

1 - I've lost my pending friend requests,...

2 - I can't re-arrange the icons of my current friends?

3 - I agree with others: why bother with a background that I can only see on the margins?

I'm with everyone else who would like to be arranging their friend icons to a specific order since I used my friend list to quickly browse through the profiles of those of my friends who update stuff more than others etc. so it was pretty important for me to be able to do so.

Otherwise I love how the new Listal gives you the option to pretty much make it look like the old profile page because now I don't have to bitch about it and those who like new things can get something for themselves too. Also the customizable headers are awesome and I'm having way too much fun with them.

The best thing about the new Listal is the option to choose what categories you see on the promoted lists section. HUGE thanks for that!

I got to say: search by tags is much better now with bigger pictures and the new layout

Why would you release this version? It's completely unfinished. You can't even look at your top rated or wanted anymore. There are a lot of cool things about this update but a LOT needs to be fixed.

1. Can't re-arrange friends list.

2. Can't view want to watch list or all the movies I've rated.

3. Can't look at top rated/top watched directors in full.

4. I press Page 2 on the new stuff added and theres nothing there.

Looks good but the site is unfinished. Tons of potential.

I can't seem to find the video's that I had posted on my page or the ones other members had posted on their page. Also, I can't find other members images/pictures on their pages.

My biggest loss with this new version is the 1 column display mode in the "wanted" and "watched" lists...having all the display modes is fun to play with, but none of them offer the efficiency of the original display from the old version of the site. The closest one is "Basic", but it's a little too basic...

The ability to add tags directly from this view is now gone. This is a huge drawback, as this was the only way to add tags without having to navigate to each individual movie page.

Also gone is the ability to switch between "want to watch" and "watched", as well as add the movie to a list.

Even more disconcerting is the lost ability to filter by more than one tag.

And of course there's the aesthetics of it...it just looks like a skeleton of a page, whereas the original "1 column" layout was much more attractive, with the blue boxes making it easy to distinguish the sections, etc. Also the "director" column now confusingly just says "credits".

Can we please get the old 1 column view back?

And I think that is not enough options to edit your profile page, in a visual sense.

I actually like the new profile page, there is enough room for personalisation without the ability to make it utterly unreadable. It looks much cleaner. I know I am in a definite minority, but hey... I usually am!

Another problem:

How a quick way to check for new lists and photos posted by my friends? In the old version was 'contakt feed', where I could segregate follow in categories that interested me. Now, I don't see this option. When follow about 100 people looking for information on the first page, without possibility of selection will be extremely tedious and time-consuming.

Found the pictures thing I bitched about earlier! Thank you (or was it there all along I didn't see it...), I would guess the video's will pop up again soon, no rush on my end. Thanks for keeping this site going Tom. :)

Videos have been deleted? Is there a way to recover links (i'd like to put them in a list)?

I'm having trouble with lists of lists. I add a list to the list, and then can't move it to another category within said list.

Latest updates:

- Fixed browsing beyond page one on new category pages
- Fixed adding pictures via the gallery page
- I think the problems with adding items has been resolved, please post if you still find any problems.
- Fixed problem with adding to images list with a new category set.


I will try and fix the remaining problems later today and tomorrow and answer some of the questions.

Delete the uploaded pic of your header in your personal photos, reload your browser and it will disappear.

There is a new feature I definitely dislike.
When I try to add an item to a custom list, the scroll-down window shows all my custom lists for all categories! Everything is mixed together!
I think it's just messy. Why would I want to add a game to a people list, or a place to a music list? OK, wait, maybe I would want it once in a while: I can think of some special instances where "mixed items" would be fine. But still, it's not something I would do often. Anyway, I find the new interface confusing for everyday use.
I hope we are given an option to somehow "opt out" from this new interface and switch back to the old, uncluttered "each to its own" custom list scroll-down window. Such an option would make everybody happy, I guess :)

So I'm usually able to figure most things out so I can't tell it this is a glitch or not but how do we...?

A.) search for fictional characters.
B.) add fictional characters to the database.

A. Dunno. Looks like Search is still limited to old categories.
EDIT: I've found there is a workaround. See my other post on Sep 12 in this thread.

B. You can add Fictional Characters to the database just like every other item. See www.listal.com/add Just select Fictional Characters as category.

@ The O.P. Thanks for the info. It appears that is the right method to do it, only the functionality appears to not be working at this moment. I'm not able to add anything regardless of the browser I use.

When clicking on the name of a person who is not in Listal database already, just an error message is seen: Page not found - We could not find the page you were looking for

instead of the No search results for... Adding items to Listal page, which would be more useful in this case, I guess.

The problem is, Videos don't show on the personal profile page. There is no "Videos" module to be added to profile in Edit layout www.listal.com/user/editlayout

I have to agree with you. Lots of neat features in the new site, but too many things still need to be fixed or polished.

When I rate a movie or TV show, they are not automatically set to Watched any longer. Don't know if this is a bug or a new feature.

I still cann't add a new person to the database. I click on 'Add to listal', then I type a person and click 'Add' and nothing happens.

And I still think that the graphics in the profile is awful. Each profile is the same boring and impersonal.

I've just added a new person by pasting a Wikipedia URL in Listal's search windows.

After selecting a picture and providing a description, I got an error message saying
"A critical error has occured... (IP)
This error has been logged and will be dealt with asap."

BUT THEN I found out that the person had been added alright!

I added a person in this way, but now when I click on it I get the message: Could not find a person matching this name And nothing I can do about it.

Those of you complaining about profiles, take a look at mine and tell me in what way mine is the same as everyone else's? I just don't understand the complaints. The information sections are kept clean and clear, and the rest of it is left for you to do as you wish. It's like saying the Twitter layout is rubbish because it isn't the same as the Myspace multi-mess. Perhaps some font options would be nice, but otherwise it's perfect for the job.

That is your opinion, I have a right to my own. Just because you like it, does not mean that others will like it. More understanding. I'm not complaining, just expressing my opinion.

People generally dislike change to the websites that they use. From experience, people will always be resistant, but the strange thing is that when those things change again further down the line, they then complain about the new change. Change just takes getting used to.

I'm not particularly saying that you personally are complaining, or trying to refute your right to an opinion, of course you are entitled to express yours. I'm just being a lone voice defending the changes, and offering an example of how it can be made to look rather pleasant (in my opinion).

However, I would wait and see! I don't know if personal profiles are already the way they were intended, or some more customization tricks (say, colors!) will be back.

Font color options would be nice enough, I just don't think we need the information area to be transparent in any way, I like the crispness of the current version. The weight of the majority may prevail in the end though, and the majority would seem to prefer how it used to be.

One thing I will add though...

I'm not sure I like the idea of animated gifs being used as backgrounds... but again, just my opinion.

Onion Jack, your profile design is not compatible with higher (and lower) screen resolutions than yours. Your header is ok, but the background picture is shifted. My screen resolution is 1920x1200.

There is no way around that except for using a fairly generic tiled background. That would have been the case for old or new profile options, not that I could get a full image to work on the old version.
