New site is live!

Looks like the "mine" search feature has at least one glitch:

It doesn't return results for movies that have been marked as "wanted". In the old site it did. This is useful for seeing if you've already added things to your list.

Is that fixable?

I've been on Listal pretty much since it started and I was alarmed at what I just saw on the main site. What's with all the lists (at least the first two pages) of provocative pictures of women? Can't we see actual lists of movies on there? I thought that's what this site was mainly about?

when I click my person tags not all of the tagged persons show.
for example I have tagged 30 people with the tag Brown Eyes but when I click the tag only 27 show.
The same happens with almost all of my other tags, like the tag actress,before I click it it says that Ive tagged 97 persons with that tag but when I click only 82 show.
Its quite many missing.
I have tried to remove tags and add them again to see if something happens,but it ddoes not. :/

That is because when you click on a tag it will link to your collections, only items in your collections will appear there. The only way of adding a person to collections is to rate, with other things you can mark as watched, read, liked etc..

An option was added a few months ago to choose which lists appear on the front page, you can deselect beauty and people lists to remove most of these kind of lists.

Reporting - I understand that those images aren't overtly sexual but if I want to see content like that I'll go to a website that has that. I just have always enjoyed this site when it was about the movies, music and collections that we love.

Tom - Thanks for filling me in about these settings! My Listal is now back to the way I like it!

It's a better quality version of an old image, the votes were moved across when the old version was deleted.

I'm now having issues rearranging items in my lists (i.e. trying to alphabetize one of my lists). This is occurring in both Chrome and FireFox.

Multi-page lists aren't advancing past the first page,...

I miss the old Listal.

Can't add movies to a list by multiple selection from my movies/all pages.

I get
"Items has been added to your list and should appear below",

but they don't.

Tried in both 2 and 3 Column display modes, in FF, IE, Chrome, on Windows.


In Basic Mode display the "With selected create or add to custom list" bar on the bottom of the page does not even show up when I select check boxes.


Poster and Shelf display modes don't seem to allow multiple selection.

Still no functionality for the "mine" button that I can see.

What is that button for if it doesn't return any results regardless of what's in your collections?

The thing that's been my major issue from day 1 of the new site though is still MIA...

The ability to add tags while viewing your collection list. (Currently you have to visit each individual item's page, one by one.)

Basically my biggest wish is to get the old 1 column basic view back. (This one) The closest thing is the display mode called "Basic", but it's missing a lot of the previous functionality, including the ability to:

Major:

1) add tags while viewing your collection list. (Currently you have to visit each individual item's page, one by one. This is the case for #1-4, actually.)

2) change an item's status (i.e. from "wanted" to "watched", etc.) (Here again, with this new site layout you can't do this without navigating to each item's individual page.)

3) add an item to a list

4) remove an item from the collection

5) filter the collection by more than one tag

Back in October Tom mentioned you could do #2, 3, and 4 by using the two/three column display mode, which is helpful, but #1 is really the most important function, and I kind of prefer single column anyway.

Other minor issues:

6) no ability to batch edit the collection list (currently there is a checkbox next to each item, but there doesn't appear to be any way to do anything with items once they are selected.)

7) On the "My Lists" page, there's no real ability to see what the public status is of each list (i.e., in the old view, the lock symbol was included next to each list along with the status "private", "semi-private" or "public". Now there is no indicator at all.)

Back on the collections page (Basic display mode)..

8) The "director" column now oddly just says "Credits", but it still just lists the director. (Actually sometimes the director doesn't even show, even if it's entered in the film's info.)

9) The aesthetics and layout make it much harder to read. The blue background and clearly defined cells were great. It was also great to just have one big "Personal" column to deal with all the statuses the user set for the item, instead of (for example) having an entire column just for the star rating and another for the date added.)


Basically if the "Personal" column could be restored back to the Basic display mode of the collections page, it would immensely improve the usefulness and usability. I'd be ecstatic.

Looks like "Mine" searches your watched items only, not the wanted ones.

One thing i would really like is being able to see the FULL resolution of an image you post i think the max here is around 800x1200 and i post images at 2000x3000 sometimes even higher.

With the default display mode or poster views you can edit watched/wanted and also add to lists by clicking the little edit icon under the rating stars.

I will try and add the blue table display mode back though

List filter by Rating seems to be broken. Works with "x or greater", though.

If you could bring back that awesome blue table display, I'd be ecstatic and I know it would make a lot of people happy.

That was really the main thing that attracted me to the site in the first place. It made it so easy to build lists and label items with tags for easy sorting when you want to look for particular genres.

#1 and #5 are at the top of my wishlist.

I actually haven't really been active on the site any more specifically because all that lost functionality made it so cumbersome to do the stuff I used Listal for. I'm sure I can't be the only one who misses those functions.

Pics tab says the profile only has 166 pictures, but clearly she has over 800.

When the title of a DVD is very long, the title covers the number of Lists it is in.

By the way, this DVD shows as Region 99, although it is Region 0.

I don't know if this is a bug or is "by design". Lately I noticed that when I look on Listal for an Amazon link, the item is automatically added to Listal and I cannot pick the correct Category before adding it.

For instance this ball was automatically added to "Fashion"!

Besides, Amazon's image wasn't imported and no new pictures can be added to the profiles.

The O.P., I added the ball picture for you. The trick is:
Paste the image-link into the URL field and hit enter instead of pressing the "add image" button (as the button doesn't work).

I see it all the time, too. It could be a cookies issue?

Is there a rationale for "Products", "Toys", "Places"... not having a Rating, while "Gadgets & Electronics" and other categories have it?

"Replaced" images (I mean, deleted and replaced by a better version) still don't show in lists.

Yes, there are links to the new pictures, so we can retrieve the new pic and use it in the list instead of the old one.
Too bad we have no way to know that a picture was replaced in the first place, unless we find it out by chance.

Any updates on changes?

I will try and get the old blue table working today.

I've put the blue table back and fixed some issues relating to the checkboxes for each item.

Adding tags will take a bit more work to put back.

All of the pics in a given profile are coming up broken. I am using Chrome for a browser.

Great to see the blue table grid back! Definitely looks better than the "Basic" blank white background.

Now the only issue is, it looks as though it only contains the exact same info/functionality of the Basic display. I realize you mentioned adding tags back would take more work, but how about the "Wanted" and "Want to watch" buttons, as well as the red X and "Custom" button to add the item to a list?

As you can see in the old screen shot, all those buttons used to be in the Personal column, between the rating stars and the "added on" dates.

I noticed those options (except the red x) are available in the Two Column display mode.

Can those be added back to the blue table too?
