New site is live!

The new site is now live.

Please post comments, feedback and bugs here. I will try and fix bugs as soon as possible.

The image server is quite slow at the moment but that should improve.

I will update this post will more comprehensive information but for now here a a list of improvements with the new site:

Features of the new site

1. New categories
2. New site design and header
3. New profile page
4. New wider collection view with new display modes.
5. New recommendations page
6. Image lists and list of lists can now be in a specific category
7. New display modes for custom lists.
8. New bookmarklet to add items to Listal while browsing the web: www.listal.com/add
9. Lists can contain items from any category (e.g. movie lists can contain books or people)
10. Spelling corrections when searching
11. More items are published to the update feed. (e.g. when adding items to lists)
12. Pagination has been improved so you can skip to the last page or skip forward 10 pages
13. When viewing landscape images the view will default to wide layout
14. You can view your collection across all categories e.g. view all items added across all categories, apply tags over all categories.

Not yet completed

1. Adding new items to custom lists from the bookmarklet
2. Compatibility percentages on profiles and recommended by links.

Hi Tom, After the site has been updated, I noticed that one of my list change its thumbnail image to one of the picture inside the list. The former thumbnail photo of the list is the Movie poster of the mos recent movie added to the list. Now I can not change back the thumbnail photo to its original.

Yes the images are loading very very very extremely slow. Some pics won't load at all. Has this something to do with the update?

At first I was feeling really stupid because I didn't knew how to put new items on Listal with the new way...
But now I saw how it works...wow this is actually interesting and VERY helpful.

But I notice you need to check a specific image one by one. Maybe in the future we could select quicker a specific image we want.

Aaaannndd...is not working....
It seems even I using the second way to put a item, it stop and show my the error

"A critical error has occured (94.69.83.27)

This error has been logged and will be dealt with asap."

Anyone knows what this mean?

There is also an error with lists. For example I am unable to move and films and one section of "My DVD Library" list to another section. It appears to be work just fine until I go back to the original tab I removed it from or refresh. They are back in their original location.

Most watched actors & actresses in My TV Shows are still wrong in the new site.
It shows the most watched in movies (the same ones as in My Movies) instead of TV actors and actresses.

The image server should be much better now.

I have fixed the adding of items for games.

I am working on the other issues now

Another problem here for solution please:

I just put a game with the name "Anonymous Agony".
It seems it get normally if you search it, but if you try to click it, it send you to the error message I said in my previous post.

I have deleted the game, please try to add again

I wanted to add a book by ISBN using the new website, but I didn't know how to do it. Is it still possible?

I added the following book: www.listal.com/book/nemesis-nemesis (but I couldn't add the ISBN when creating the item and I can add it when editing the page).

please give some life back to making your profile cool not being able to add colors sucks and makes your profile look really bland

Edit layout-page went funky on me when i was editing my layout. Unused modules are now empty (=not seeing any modules), and i can not add anything to right column. When i try to move module in right column, it simply slips back to its former place (when i still saw those unused modules that is :)). Left column works ok.

I'm having a problem with a newly created profile. I can't add it to a list, and can't add any more pictures to this profile. www.listal.com/barbara-vasle
Also there is an unrelated list appearing (5 times).

I'm tryin to add a new item to web shows category, from a youtube page, using that link you drag to your bookmarks. But when I click on watched or want to watch nothing happens.

Don't like the new profile design, but everything else is great.

The margin between the right and left column of your profile page is too narrow and doesn't look good.
The new view of wide images is also not optimal: "Who voted" will be shown below the picture on the left side, I would prefer to have it above on the right side. The description of a picture and the "Who voted" box shouldn't have so much space between them. Why not using fancybox (fancybox.net/) for picture viewing? This way we could watch even wider pics.

Deleting my own suggestions doesn't work (made accidentally the same suggestion several times in a row).

I think I've fixed the problem with facebook.

Which method did you use to add that person? I will have to delete that profile since it is bugged

Big fan, Mr. Tom. I've only wandered around for a few minutes. The only thing I've noticed so far is that video games in lists have an IMDB rating added on with the Listal user rating. I'm no expert about IMDB, but all games seem to be set at 0.0 for the rating and I did a quick browse over on that site to see if they had expanded to video games at some point, but nope, still television and film. So, the IMDB rating is a little pointless for games...I'm guessing this was a default setting from the films and television part of Listal.

Aside from that, I like it. I'm a big fan of update feeds now including notifications when lists are updated. It lets me check out lists I'm interested in as they get updated instead of randomly checking them out to see if things have changed.

It might be small potatoes, but I'm unable to get to the full list for the little bebops. By that I mean if, for example, I go to the my movies header and want to see the most seen directors there seems to be no button for that.

Is it bugfree now? First when I created the page, it showed me an error message.


I also noticed, that I'm unable to post pictures in any gallery at all, except my personal.

How do I reset my header? I hate the one I changed it to and there doesn't seem to be a default button to go back.

It's looking good so far. Great job! Besides the first-day errors already mentioned, the only one I see is that the thumbnails for list of lists are gone. At least for my lists.

I do have a question, though: What is the "not interested" button for; and how does it work? I noticed they're on people's profile too.

As for the profile, it would be nice if the "updates" tab redirected me to the "updates feed", instead of back to the profile; as the "list" tab redirects to my lists. It would be a nice shortcut.

I actually liked the new design very much.

The search function doesn't seem to work.

nevermind, just tried again and it works fine now.

I am unable to upload images if there is already an image available.

For example I uploaded a picture for Jack Luden.

www.listal.com/jack-luden and it never adds the picture. If I go to my news feed it shows the picture was uploaded but it doesn't actually add it to the profile Example:www.listal.com/viewimage/5835239

I noticed if there are no images for an item I do not have this problem.

No information about age, gender oder nationality on profiles page.
