"11.1. This is right there among the very best. The idea behind this album is so simple it's brilliant: these guys were going to make punk rock, but they actually could play. So instead of doing the usual simple power chord punk they pulled all the advanced songwriting tricks from their sleeve and the rest came naturally. This is very smart and artistic punk rock, but still punk rock. "
"The core concept of Marquee Moon is so brilliant, you'd think somebody had come up with it by the time Television were barely even a thing. Instead of playing some simple power chords these guys took all the advanced chord theory from jazz players and cut all the distortion. What they managed to create was a superb post-punk album with some brilliant songwriting and punk vibe."

"Television spent years woodshedding at CBGB, to arrive at a sound as thrilling in its ambition as Ramones was in its simplicity. Marquee Moon drew on surrealist poetry and free jazz, connecting Sixties psychedelia with a more aggressive brand of derangement. The result was punk rock's first — and greatest — guitar landmark, making New York's mean streets seem like a mystic playground."

"Uniting the Velvet Underground and the Grateful Dead, leader Tom Verlaine and henchman Richard Lloyd excel at ecstatic two-guitar excursions. Standout track: “Marquee Moon”"
