Watership Down update feed
"First viewing - June 18th I thought I'd seen this as a kid, but if so it was only once as I'd forgotten all the details. Since watching it now seemed new to me I'm counting it as a first view instead. First off, it's refreshing to get an animated film that's neither Disney nor Anime. I haven't looked into it to see whether the creative forces behind Watership Down made other films, but what they've done here is impressive especially for its time. "Oh God was this disappoiting. I've been searching this for years because I heard it was some sort of masterpiece that makes everyone cries and I say BULLSHIT. It's not a bad movie, it's ok as a somewhat dark adventure but it is not that dark, or sad, or serious, or graphical nor does it have that much content to keep you going as you usually hear about it. I hope Plague Dogs is better because this was very very underwhelming. Update: It was, much better, in fact. "

At its core, this is a survivalist adventure picture with political undertones, and it's a genre classic that is most remembered for not being suitable for little kids. Indeed, do not let the cutesy rabbit characters or the PG rating fool you, as Watership Down is brutal and harrowing, the furthest thing imaginable from a classic Disney movie. It's a confident and remarkably realised anthropomorphic vision, bolstered by sumptuous animation and a roster of sublime actors who deliver the material with astute sincerity.

This is still a great movie that has amazing animation, good characters, and a very well told story. The movie deals with a lot of good themes for a movie that was made for kids and families. While the last part of the movie can be pretty bloody, the rest of the movie is tame by today's standers. I highly recommend this movie for both kids and ad"
