“Smile is an interesting case of already cliched tropes mixed in with a original story which would seem to be a standard case of stealing from other movies right? Films like The Ring and It Follows have already had stuff like this happen. However, while Smile does take a lot of ideas and concepts from other horror films, it doesn’t seem to steal it for bad reasons. If anything, it takes those already used ideas and seems to use it for an advantage.
