Epic Movie Reviews

I will admit I didn't see this until a couple of days ago, and I was really hesitant of seeing it, after reading a lot of negative reviews on the film, and after seeing the excrement that is Disaster Movie. And let me tell you, after seeing this travesty for myself, I can't agree more with the negativity. While not quite as monstrous as Disaster Movie, Epic Movie(more like Epic Dud) is a truly terrible movie. There are absolutely no redeeming qualities here. The humour just isn't funny. It is crude, vulgar, over-familiar and even contrived, and the constant flashing of breasts was way overdone. The acting was really amateur, Jennifer Coolidge and Carmen Electra get my vote as the worst actresses in the movie, and believe me that is not saying much. The Willy Wonka spoof was just as tired as the movie itself. And as a parody of films like Pirates of the Caribbean and chronicles of Narnia, it falls well short in terms of sophistication. The writing is unbelievably bad, the characters are annoying and the plot just isn't there. The music was awful, and the pirate rap was torturously bad. I will say right now, that I don't like any of the recent Friedberg-Seltzer movies, merely because not only do I feel that there is a complete lack of comedic talent in their films, but also their films come across as a complete waste of time. And just like Disaster Movie, I seriously was considering turning the film off 20 minutes in, that's how painful I found it. All in all, probably not quite the worst movie ever, but along with movies like Home Alone 4, NeverEnding Story 3 and Freddy Got Fingered, it is close. A complete disaster of epic proportions, and one to avoid, even if you're thinking of renting. I'm not trying to sound harsh, I am just trying to explain as much as I can what I feel about the movie. 1/10 Bethany Cox

Since everyone was saying horrible things about 'Epic Movie', I expected very little, I liked when I was 12, but now, I hate it, it doesn’t merit an Oscar nomination at all

'Discover what it takes to survive an epic movie' Well at the end the four protagonists are crushed by Captain Jack Swallows's wheel I guess that was pretty funny but not much else is funny, of course Willy was rather obnoxious (and also a rather weak villain), as was the Harry Potter spoof

Despite (mostly) well cast, the film was crude, sexist and mostly unfunny (at least it isn’t as horrible as Disaster Movie) also the story, directing, acting was rather poor

To conclude, I hate 'Epic Movie' and it isn’t worth a look at all

I know most people hate this turd of a movie, and I am not saying it deserves an Oscar nomination either, but at least some of the spoofs do hit the nail. However, compared to the previous DATE MOVIE, movie-wise this is a disaster. I think in parodies such as this it would be a better idea to widen the horizon than to stick with some chosen subplot, this time the Narnia, which I must say is not that much of fun actually. It becomes tedious quite soon, especially when the viewer realizes, the epic adventure is about to be lost. I think some of the spoofs work fine, and the actors, at least some of them are pretty funny. I especially liked the Pirates of the Caribbean music video, the character illumination as Jack Swallows ("Doesn't that sound kinda gay?") and the X-men, especially Carmen Electra hits the spot in this role. However, a movie much despised, yet I do not hate it entirely. Perhaps with a little bit of wit it would have been much better (do NOT stick with a plot, it NEVER works in these sorts of films!)

My sister had wanted to see this movie and wow was it pretty horrible. It had a few parts which made me laugh, mainly because of the mentions of other films. The fart humor I could have done without. There was a lot of unrealistic violence ie; dismemberment of people and suddenly appearing fine in the next scenes. To me, the movie was pretty confusing. Most of it jumped around and it seemed as if there was no real plot. I don't reccommend this movie at all. It will leave you feeling as if you wasted an hour of your life and killed off precious brain cells.

This was a movie that was hard to watch. It had its funny moments, but there isn't much substance to it. If you go to the movies a lot, you will see a lot of recent movies played upon by the writers. It was kind of fun to see all the cameos and to see how many of the different films they attacked I had seen. Other than that, I wouldn't reccomend seeing this movie unless you really want to go out and watch some brainless humor.
