It follows a theatre director (played by Hidetoshi Nishijima), who directs a multilingual production of Uncle Vanya while dealing with the death of his wife (Reika Kirishima). It is based on Haruki Murakami's short story of the same name and other stories from his 2014 collection Men Without Women. "

"First viewing - March 13th HBO Max While the 3 hour runtime was initially intimidating, the good news is that Drive My Car is never a slog. I was hooked from the start & it mostly kept up its momentum up the entire time. The characters are very well realized, & I'd gladly hang out with them again. If there's a weak point it's with the final scene, but that may just be me. Perhaps next time around I'll appreciate its more. Totally worth a look regardless."
